Hey guys, I went shopping today and ended up getting some prices on things for my truck (the new project.) It is a 95 Chevy C1500 ECSB, 350 TBI.

Okay, here goes:

1.)From 4WheelParts in Waipahu I priced a new 4.10 Ring & Pinion set and Detroit Locker installed.

The gears, from Genuine Gear, are going to cost me $150 bucks. They say they can order Yukon, tho. Also, the Detroit will cost me $650. Both installed will be an extra 80 bucks for the install kit and $450 for labor, equalling about $1300 all done after my discount.

They also offered me an exhaust setup that didn't sound good. Gibson headers and catback exhaust, but it used the stock y-pipe and cat, which I'm sure is on it's way out after 12 years of service.

2.) Exhaust Systems Hawaii, who apparently employs one of the best damn exhaust guys on the island (all the other shops recommend him) can install me a full headers-back exhaust for about $1400 or so. He is going to use Hooker headers, custom y-pipe, a Cartex cat and flowmaster muffler and do a Dual Exit out the rear.

3.) Ron's Performance (who have me in love already, see below) sell black-painted Hooker LT's for $265/pr. Then I just have to drive the truck about 3 miles from my house to ESH and I'm sure Roland can handle everything from there. I can handle the installation, it's the highway driving with my 02 sensor hanging loose that has me worried. And as for the in-love part. Ron's had a MSD 6 box, MSD Blaster coil, and MSD Plug Wires that I paid a total of $314 bucks TOTAL. 200 for the box, 50 for the coil, and the rest for the wires. I asked him who the hell he robbed for that stuff. That beats any other price out there!!

Well, that's it for now. There's another guy on the island here who everybody is recommending for my gears; apparently he is a dealer in Yukon gears and does some great work. I am also going to Maui Off-Road in Aiea tomorrow to see what they offer me. They are another reputable shop here.

Well I'd appreciate your inputs on everything. Comment/Criticize/Flame to your heart's content.

Peace,
Greg

if you want to do #3, just unplug the o2 sensor and put it in your pocket, it will run fine to get it to the exhaust shop, and have them reinstall it when they put the exhaust on

you don't want to leave it hanging loose, they get really hot, and if they hit something flammable, it may ignite it, or if it gets wet, it will be junk

Awesome, bro. Didn't know how unplugging it would affect my performance. Thanks.

Anybody else can chime in, too!

Peace,
Greg

is that a decent price for exhaust work in Hawaii? You did say the headers are $265 a pair right? Thats $1100 for a custom exhaust with a single muffler and header install. Is that right? It seems high.

Yeah, DarkSilvr, you hit the price on the head.

I think I am going to follow dave89iroc's advice and install the headers myself, then drive 3 miles to the place and get my exhaust installed. Should knock several hundred dollars off of that price, bring it down to bout 750-800 bucks, plus the cost of the headers. Does anyone know what the price for that kind of job would be on the mainland??

Peace,
Greg

my exhaust man did my magnaflow true duels and said he would normally charge $500. But that was cat back, so on second thought, that might be a decent price.

Edit: Just remembered, $500 was the price i figured he would charge someone. when i asked one time, it was much lower. id have to ask again to give you a better answer.
