would it be possible to build a sub box for 1-2 10"s behind the ext cab bench seat, up against the cab wall where and amp rack would usually go. i reallize it would be ridiculously hard to measure the volume back there, but do you think there would be enough space if it were fiberglassed? how would it sound?

i realize the space is almost zero, but on my 94 the space behind the seat right where the backrest meets the seat bottom might be just enough to fit a short sub, or maybe one of those new bazooka flat/saucer subs i saw in truckin i dunno how those perform tho, any comments?

I too looked into putting a sub behind the back seat of my truck. But there is no room, take some measurements and you will find that you dont have enought room for anykind of box. I am in the process now of doing a stealth box, which is the next best thing in my opinion.

lol, still trying: what about 1 10" or 1 12", im almost positive if you fiberglassed it for every possible cubic inch, theres gotta be enough room for at least one back there is you could get a shallow mounting height

It could be done with on of these!

Have you measured back there yet?

Yes. I have about 5 inches clearance. Should be enough for a single 10 anyway.

Im building my amprack back there now. I´m gonna glue a board to the backwall and fit my 2 Lanzar amps to it.

Save your time and money and just make a box or buy one to fit under the seat, with doing that you can get 2 10's or maybe even 2 12's

That´s what I´m gonna do to. I´m raising my back set a bit, to get a box with four 10´s in.

Somebody just asked if it was possible to fit a box behind the seat and it is. :D

yea, i know its 10% possible to fit 2 10"s or 2 12"s under the seat, but i just think it would be awesome to have them back behind it, 100% hidden. you could ride with the seat forward most of the time, or flip it and cover your system up if need be. im positive it can be done, and ill bet 2 10"s would just fit, such as those flatties posted above. it might be a lot of work, but id do it myself and it would be worth it if it sounded good

I've been wanting to do this for a month now. I don't get why everyone is so quick to raise their seat up to fit a box, but nobody will move it forward to fit a box? It would basically cure the idea of your subs being stolen if they were behind the seat. I think it's doable. I fit a 10 in the spare tire well of my 86 rx7 (read: vertical spare, doughnut sized). I'm going to do it. Just because you all say we can't.

kmagnuss,
I'm not saying its impossible, but good luck with it. With my 2 amps mounted to a 1/2" MDF amp rack behind the seat, I can't flip my seat up to get at my sub, which is under the seat. The back of the seat pivots in and jams into the amps at about half way up.

I scratched this idea. I just worked on my current box some over the weekend and I now like it much better. Plus I'm lazy.
