I am going to go out on a limb and say I can put this is in my 1988 truck without doing the DRAC modification or any other major mods.

Your '88 doesn't have a DRAC.

The DRAC is built into the gauge cluster. You will need to buy another one. But you should be able to accomplish it. Never know unless you try.
