3" it to big for a 5.3. if you were running single exhaust, 3" would be fine, but for duals don't go any more than 2.5" with 3" you will most of the scavaging in you exhaust, and alot of low end power. with a smaller pipe, your exhaust will scavenge better and have a higher velocity, and you will get better power out of 2.5" than you will 3"

You need to retain your back pressure. If you want it loud, do 2 1/4" into your 4" tip. It will be pretty loud and will off echo off everything.

you have 2 3/4 duals? only exhaust i have heard of bein 2 3/4 is stock.

but 3" wont neccessarily be louder, but it will be deeper in tone.

Only your bottom end. Unless you're planning on forced induction and a lot bigger engine do not do 3" duals. Best setup would be either a single 3" or dual 2.25" if you're doing a true dual. Also, if you're doing duals put in a crossover like either an x or h-pipe to balance the pulses between the two banks. Also I hope you're planning on some mufflers too since with straight pipes it'll sound like assshole.

yes, straights sound good, and dont put an h or x pipe in it, the crackling part is the best

Yes; because sounding like a 40 year old log truck with a misfire is a great sound. Going to a true dual exhaust doesn't require a crossover, no; but it does add some power back to something that would be way overkill for a stock engine. Unless of course you just want an obnoxiously loud truck that sounds horrible and makes you look like a dumb**** 18 year old high school kid.....oh wait, nevermind.

Just messing with ya bro. Seriously; with dual 3" pipes you're going to hate it driving around. Its not going to have any balls down low at all. With these engines its all about scavenging and velocity. A dual 2.25" system would suit your purpose and will cackle more too if that's what you're after. Either that or run a single 3" and split it into two pipes at the rear.

yeah i figured that.

i was thinking today what would super 44's sound like w/ high flow cats on 2 1/4"?
