difference between dual and single mufflers

What is the difference between having dual mufflers and having a single muffler with dual pipes (single to double)?

yes..single in dual out or true dual exhaust? what is the main difference besides cost? Any difference in peformance? pros/cons?

Dual mufflers will be quieter (not much really depending on the muff). Performance will be the same more or less depending on the setup.
