I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD with a 6.0L and 4.10 gears, and the 4' steel drive shaft. I am gonna be gettin a supercharger (prolly a vortech pushin 7psi) here in the next month or so and I was wondering if I am going to need to be aware of any upgrades I should do after the install or is my drive line with the 2500HD strong enough?
Thanks in advance

Luckily you have a 4L80e, if a tank had to use a truck transmission it would be the 4L80e. A shift kit would make it even stronger but its not immediately necessary like on the 4l60e. As far as the engine goes, a lot of people upgrade the injectors. It allows for more boost and shorter duty cycles. Also the intake on the stock GenIII engines tends to lean the rear two cylinders out a bit, but the LS6 intake will not, so thats another popular mod. The SC will be bad-ass on that LQ4, lower compression engines alway do great with boost. You might also consider switching to a lower temp range spark-plug. Fully synthetic fluids if you aren't already running them. Those are just some ideas that come to mind.

Thats good to hear I will be alright with my transmission as it is now...I may put the shift kit in it eventually (how hard is it to install though?).
How much would injectors run?
So since I got the stock GenIII engine intake I should upgrade to the LS6 ($$??), will it harm the engine or just enhance the mod?
Im runnin Kendall Synthetic blend high performance 10w-30 also
Thanks for all the advice too man I appreciate it...

The LS6 intake is not necessary its just something I've heard people have good results with when running a high revving engine because it can flow more in the higher rpms, and forced induction because it has less turbulence at the back two cylinders when under high boost.

Whipple or Magnacharger.

S/C Z71 brings up a good point, you don't see many Vortech superchargers on trucks. They're more of a high rpm racing application unit. Not that its not unheard of, but the Vortech needs to tap into your oil pan and that causes a fair amount of heat soak and is more involved installation wise. If you want centrifugal though, Procharger makes a sealed unit which would also work.
Oh and another mod to consider is a 160 degree stat, gets the combustion chambers cooler which allows for more heat dissipation, lowers the possibility of knock somewhat. Make sure the tune knows its there though.

I have an 06 gmc 2500 hd, 6.0 with 4:10s. I was thinking about supercharging my truck to, I dunno if my transmition is strong enough though or if their are any upgrades I need to do too. Is there any difference between my 06 and his 03?

Yes the 4L80e is strong enough, but a shift kit would make it even more bullet proof and it would have cleaner shifts. Thats about all you can do to it without going into internals like bands and clutches.

I put a ProCharger on mine about 1000 miles ago. No problems. The test will be this summer when I tow 11900lbs of trailer to Colorado. Right now it is doing fine.

Yes its the same as the one they run in the new ZR1 but the one on the ZR1 is the 2300. The TVS is on magnacharger's website now and runs for $6800.
