I have a 95 tahoe, what ignition systems are you all running? I'm wanting to put an MSD ignition on this truck but not sure which one would be right...just wondering what most of you on here run...
have a few mods, headers/spacer/under drive pullys/electric fans/k&n air cleaner, and now I want to do the ignition.

I'm running the msd6(coil,wires,box)nothing fancy but if ya do don't cheap out buy the plug and play connectors instead of chopping up your harness for 20 bucks it is well worth it especially time wise.I rebuilt the motor so its not stock but it worked fine on the stock motor also.

I have all MSD stuff. issues with the cap and rotor.
lots of carbon deposits, although I think my wires are just getting a little old and are losing conductivity

Yeah get the harness. Makes it 10x easier.

Get the following: (MSD part #s)
MSD 6A: 6200
The wiring harness: 8877
Copper core plugs: Brand-Your Choice
MSD Coil: 9231
MSD or Granatelli Spiral Core wires: 32163 black or 32169 red
I'm also gonna get the Accel distributor when I get a chance. I have a cam install which currently has me distracted. I noticed a nice improvement from the ignition upgrade.
Don't expect huge mileage or HP gains. I've noticed the truck idles and revs MUCH smoother. You can still run the factory tach. Overall it runs a lot better. That's good enough for me!

That's not that bad. I'm lucky to push 310 a tank. Although, I've done a lot of mods and still haven't gotten a tune yet. I'm sure that will really wake things up.

If you have stock compression then your not going to notice much if any difference and you deffenatly won't recoup the cost of the ignition in gas savings for a long long time.

I run MSD distributor MSD coil MSD wires and a 6AL truck starts fast and idles perfect seems to run better than it did before the upgrades. Best part was I got everything off ebay for less than $300

Unfortunately MSD doesn't make a dizzy for the 96-99.
Accel or GM are your only choices....AFAIK

thats true, however I'm using the Accel vortec dizzy and its very well made, I'm not normally an accel brand fan, but the dizzy is a good one. plus its not plastic.
