I've been thinking about running true duals on my 2006
2500hd with the 6.0 liter. I plan on leaving the stock cats on, just no mufflers, and running the pipes out the back at 45 degree angles behind each tire with 3.5"x22" angle cut tips. Which size pipe should I use? 2.25, 2.5, or 3 inch? I want to make sure I am still giving it enough backpressure, etc, i dont want to mess anything up.

Does that motor even need backpressure?
I have two flowmasters sitting right behind the cab of my 05crewcab 6.0L that dump at a 45 deg. right at the end of the muffler.
It sounds loud and throaty outside, but with the windows closed it is not that bad.
Make sure you dump past the cab. My Tahoe dumped before the rear tire and it was ugly, you could not drown it out.

I'm not sure on exact pipe sizing but I would go smaller than 3". The pipes on the 6.0 trucks is actually too big from the factory. They just used the same exhaust piping as they do on the 8.1 platform. Either one you choose, just realize it is going to be crazy loud inside the cab and seriously resonate!

With no muffler it will sound very raspy and terrible. Like mentioned whatever you do dont go with 3" dual pipes....simply way too big.

I think i sounds good! Just a loss in power. I may do it to my current 6.0.

I'd run like a dynomax bullet muffler to at least give it some tone.

do no mufflers and an x pipe if you dont want it to pop

I would suggest go with 2.5 pipe size. That is plenty with true duals. It will support most, if not all, NA upgrades you do. It will be loud any size pipe you use. Or buy the tips you want to use and go with whatever inlet size the tips are. And post vids when your done!!

Why straight pipes? Not tryin to flame you. Just askin. My truck had straight pipes on it when I bought it. They lasted about a week before putting on a one chamber IMCO. Its just as loud but doesn't pop. The biggest thing I noticed was the power difference. It seemed to be alot quicker red light to red light.
