im looking for a set of hangers for my 06 reg cab/shrt bed sierra, im wondering if the 4 bolt hanger for older trucks(99-02 sierra) will work in place of my stock 6 rivet hanger and give me a 2in drop.

i think 06 and up are factory welded not rivets but if yours are riveted they will work

my 06 chevy were riveted on. the hangers r a pita to take off , you have been warned! i had probs with mine and i don't recommend them to anyone. i went with leaf springs from belltech. but they should fit. measure your frame and the width of your leafs before you remove the stock hangers to make sure they will work. jd

use a air hammer with a chizle tip and there easy to get off if you use a lowering leaf you have to drop the tank to slide the bolt out

what about re-installing the new hangers? i had to lower the tank just to get my hand behind the frame to tighten the bolts/nuts, plus putting the bolt back in the front of the leaf spring. air hammer and chisel? u make it sound to easy. then after all that i had issues with vibrations from the driveshaft angle. tried 1* thru 4* shims without fixing the problem. just from my experience i don't recommend hangers but others may not have had these problems or can live with their trucks vibrating. just trying to let the op know up front what he could run into using hangers. his choice. hope this helps though and good luck with how ever u decide to lower ur truck. by 6 bolt do you mean the oe hanger? the hangers i had from belltech bolted on with 4 bolts. to the frame and not the lower two holes on the bracket. the frame size and leaf spring width would be the things you need to make sure are going to work with the type of hanger you use. i know there are multiple size hangers depending on that. hope this helps. The Oe Hanger Have 6 Rivets And The New Only Bolt With 4 Ive Put On Like 15 Sets So Its Gets Kinda Easy After Awhile I Dont Really Recommend Springs Cause They Twist And Brake Over Time From My Experience If You Do A Hanger Correct You Should Have No Problem Also Use A Shackle It Helps With The Angle Of The Drive Line Cause It Moves Everything Straight Up

so a 99-02 1500 2wd hanger should fit my 06 1500 sierra? both made for single cabs regular beds

yes, they should fit.
i used the hanger/shackle kit but still had issues. yea after i put the hanger kit on , off , on ,off and the leafs on it was easy. but the first time was a pita. i used an angle grinder, air chisel, and air hammer. those rivets are tough! good luck and just take your time. JD
