so ive just put a new 350 vortec in my silvy and now when im driving it im getting horrible mileage. i know the 33's dont help but i think i should get better than 10 miles 2 the gallon. i took it in they said the cats are plugged so i was thinkin about runnin offroad y-pipes but was wondering if it is worht it for milage etc.. i will tune out the rear o2s if i do this but was wondering if it would be better to just replace the cats instead.

You will be better off just running cats, especially if michigan runs emmission testing. Your motor will run better as its designed to with them.

Michigan will let you drive just about anything on the road. I would hollow out the cats and then get the O2 simulators.

clogged cats will destroy your engine fast, and with very little warning, hollow them out, depending on where you are you may still pass with a visual inspection.

We don't have testing in MN, but I still put a high performance cat on my 91. It's acts as a "little muffler" on my truck.

Like dave89iroc said, no testing in Michigan. If you can do the cat. delete option yourself, I would do it. You will have to pay an exhaust shop under the table to do it. They get a $10,000 (or $5000?) fine if caught.

the shop

I have never heard of an owner being caught in michigan, local and state cops never look

none of my built trucks have cats
