79 1 ton, hood/fender adjustments

Hi,

My dad has a 79 1 ton, that he has been trying to fix up.
We got him some aftermarket fenders and hood for it, since the old ones were rusted out pretty bad.

He took the old ones off, and put the new on last weekend. Everything bolted right up like it should, but we are noticing some gaps between the hood and the fenders?

We can't tell if there is any kind of adjustments or not, that will help bring stuff back to where it needs to go?

I hope there is a way to adjust these to get them a little bit closer, there is a gap on the hood on both the passenger and driers side, and to me looks really bad. Even with them being aftermarket parts, I would think they should be a little better then that?

The place to start is with the doors to the cab itself. The gaps to check are all around the door, bottom edge to rocker, back edge to the body and around the upper perimeter of the door. Once the door is set then the fenders are next. There are shim points top and bottom by the door edge. It appears that it needs shim(s) removed to snug up the hood to fender gaps. I've seen shims at the fender to core support, but never from the factory.

I would measure the overall width of the old hood and compare that to the new hood just to make sure the new hood isn't narrower than the old GM hood. If the width checks out the gaps should be able to be snugged up.
