My motor sometimes gets “warm” or overheats when I am driving up a grade with some weight in the back or if I am towing something. This only happens in the summer when the temps reach around 100 F. By warm I mean it inches above the normal temp but not quite near the red zone. I have reached close to the red zone in the past and I don’t really feel comfortable when I see the temperature start to rise. I don’t over exceed the vehicle weight rating and the stock cooling system is in good shape. While going up the grades I use the tow/haul button. I have a 2003 GMC Savanna, 4.8L motor with ~70K miles.

Some of the options I was looking at were installing either a tranny cooler, an oil cooler, or a larger radiator to help keep the motor cool.

My question is what do you guys do to keep your motors cool and which option would give me the biggest bang for the buck? Any other suggestions?

Hi.You could try Royal Purple `purple ice` or Redline `water wetter` in your radiator if its only getting slighty warmer than usual. Its help on my 305 when towing, just as a peace of mind with the temps!
