Looking to put some summit headers on my 98 5.7, want to have 2 electric cutouts right after the headers then super 40s.

how r summit headers junk or ok? can i hollow out my cats and pass emissions or should i buy some new ones?

make sure you put the cut-outs at least after the two front O2 sensors so there is no interference in air/fuel ratios. If you have the sniffer for inspections you certainly will fail. However, if you hollowed at your cats and only have visual inspection you could possibly pass fine. But you can get high flow cats for at MOST $100 a pop for the really good ones from magnaflow/carsound. Why not keep them? On summit headers....someone mentioned they were just a re-boxed brand....i think it was pacesetters but im not too sure. I dont think they are bad.

Hollowing out the converters is about the worst thing you can do performance wise short of cramming a potato in your tail pipe.

After you do the cutout post a sound clip.
