Hello audiophiles. I'm looking for a 12" sub and was wondering if anyone is running Fi Car Audio? I've heard good things about them but wanted some other opinions. I was looking at the Fi Q and planned on running it off a Kenwood KAC-X1R. The Q will handle 1000W and the Kenwood will push 1200W, so I would probably need the BP Power option.

What's everyone think?

As long as you are not sending a clipped signal I wouldn't worry about it. I have a 10" Q running off strapped Minilith's. If you went any higher in power then I would consider getting the BP option.

Thanks drock, how do you like the sub and what kind of box did you put it in...sealed, ported, tuned?

Im running an FI Audio BTL 18" fully loaded and I love it. Throwing 2700 watts to it and it doesnt break a sweat. The FI audio subs were designed by the guys who designed XXX subs. They left XXX and started FI..quality products..Check out Steve Meade on youtube and see how the FI Subs hold up to 18k watts

WOW! Steve Meade has some crazy vids....some girls fake eye popped out during a demo

From what I've read and seen, I will more than likely end up with a 12"Q, maybe 2? Do you think these subs like to be sealed or ported? Their site says either way, but I'd like to know real world experiences. I just assumed since the Q was their 'sound quality' sub then it would sound better in a sealed enclosure. :dunno:

what are you doing for? SQ or SPL? im guessing SQ..Sealed will be way tigher bass, but it can still get low enough. Ported it will be loud and low and move some air, but generally not as SQ sounding..

I like it, sound quality is great, keeps up with all notes, and it can get loud if I push it. It is sealed probably around .5 cu ft.

I really want it to sound tight, clean, and at times loud...but mostly just looking for a SQ setup so I figured their SQ sub in a sealed box with 1kw power would get me there.

Man that's a little box? How much do your minilith's push?
I'll probably run mine in a 1.2 cu.ft. sealed box.

It is within the site recommendations for size, minilith's put out 1200 watts.

What size is the box and what did you tune it too? What kind of power?

Yeah I realize it's within recommendation...I was just sayin it's amazing you can stick a sub in such a tiny box and it still sound good :D

The amp I'm looking at will be around 1200W too so I think it'll sound good.

Sealed will play LOWER than ported btw.

"Not as SQ sounding" is not a valid description and not at all the case. A well designed box in a ported alignment can do well, although it will take many iterations to really get there.
