ever had to drill the holes on the itntake?

ok well i am building a second motor with my buddy well he bought some pro-comp heads...and he is using the edelbroke performer tbi...well the the 8 holes on the outside of the intkae lined up 100% but the 4 inner we had to drill the intake hole almost sideways to egt them to fit..it was a pian..in the A$$ why the hell did edelbrock do that to the intake....has anyone elses had to do this..

The differnce in the angled holes is the difference from tbi to vortec IIRC. I cant remember which one has angled holes though.

no i knwo vortec holes the heads have both on them.... but the edlbrock tbi intake has angled on the outside 8 and inner four our at a very small angle

It's not the intake, its the heads. Those heads were probably designed for a 1986-later motor. Its common to have to mess with the four inner bolt holes to get them to fit.

:word: your buddy bought the wrong heads. the angles on the center bolts changed in 1986, along with the 1pc RMS. hogging the holes out like you did works fine, been done MANY times before.

i did the same thing on my 92. its got a 80s block and heads with tbi intake. i just used rtv and washers and have had no problems:fsc:
