Where the he|| can i put a sub? I'm not looking for a bass machine, nor a competition system, just a liitle oomph for my ride. I got a new extended cab, and wanted to get maybe a good 10 possibly a 12 in there somewhere. But i'm at a loss. Is there enough room behind the rear seat, or a special sub that will fit that area? There used to be a mfr. that used unneccessary space for sub enclosures. BTW, i have the leather bench, so the console mount from JBL wont work. Any input or help would be greatly appreciated. Thx

most guys here are running either 2-10' or 2-12's under their rear seats. with the 12's you should raise the rear seat for added clearance..

Thx Tribal....Is there any other solution. I dont want to eat up my option to lift seats for storage. I travel a good bit, getting into GNCC racing, and will need the room for storage of luggage/gear, etc. I only want to do that as a LAST resort. If this is my only choice, did you make a downfiring or side-fire? Do you have enclosure dimensions? Is there a mfr that makes a less intrusive enclosure specifically for this model without having to make my own box? (i know, too many questions from the n00b! hehe)

I belive there are a few manufacturers that make a box for 10's that go under the seat. Either Qlogic, JL, or MTX.. one of them..
If you want to customize it, you could fiberglass your own center console, and add a single sub in there... just a suggestion

Good luck
Steve

PS, do a search for sub boxes for EX cabs, I posted dimensions for boxes here somewhere...

The only way not to put it under the rear seat would be to have a new console made with a sub in it. I have a couple of friends with this setup and it sounds great and takes up no room at all

I'm having the same problem as you--I want some subs but i dont want to lose space. The most common thing around here is downfiring 2 10's or 2 12's in a sealed custom enclosure under the back seat that may be bought for about $150 and mount the amp on the back wall behind the back seat or under a front seat. The problem is that you lose all storage and access to your jack. I found a place that would sell me the box, 2 10's, the amp, all wires ect., and intall it for about $480. But i wanna keep my jack where it's at and save some storage. My thought is to find an enclosure for 1 downfiring 12 for underneath the backseat on the drivers side. There are a lot out there on the internet but they are a little pricey. This setup would be the best of both worlds b/c you keep the jack and the free space for storage, get a quality setup, and save a llittle $ cause it's only one sub and a smaller amp. Sorry about the essay hopefully it wont take as long to read as it did to type. Let me know what you think about this. I'd like to try it.

Quick question: Does anyone see anything wrong with putting a truck box for a 12 inch sub underneath the back seat as a problem. I've been told by shops around here that the sound would be too muffled b/c it would be too close to the seat. But if the box was was 4" tall on the front and 7.5" tall on the back then there would be between 5 and 2 inches of clearance. Would this sound ok, or would i be starting off with a bad setup from the start?

Here is my set-up. 1 10" HE2 with a fosgate 150watt amp. The sub downfires, I just turned it around so you could see the sub...hope this helps...and i built the box myself..
