 Yeah, I know. But the SAS is going so slow, and I had to have something to do:D
Oh, this is on a budget too. Maybe not as strict of a budget as the SAS, but I'm trying to spend the least amount possible, but still have a decent interior.
Hell, those brand new components only cost me $75. Everything else I'm trying to get used.
Ok, so I just popped off the drivers side door panel, and I found an Alpine Type S 6.5" 2 way speaker. Now, I know the rear speakers are stock, because I've looked at them, but I wasn't expecting this. Oh well, out goes the old, in goes the Phoenix Gold:D Updates tomorrow

Those are pretty good sounding speakers.
Good for the money for sure.
I considered a pair for my pit vehicle.
Ended up going with a pair of 5 1/4" polk audio components instead which sound awesome.
Got the components in today, they sound great! I can't wait until I get a sub in it, and an amp.:rocking:
The components are very good for the money IMO.
However, I ended up putting the tweeters in the door panels. Eventually I'll go back and build some a-pillars, but I just wanted them in now.

kirk how does the 4.3 like the 40's? WHat do you have done to the motar as well?

Kirk how do you like the sound off the Head unit only?

It does ok, I wish I had a little lower gears, but I couldn't go any lower up front. Engine is stock except for a cat back exhaust, K&N drop in filter (stock airbox seems to do better offroad than a CAI), and a tune. Next set will be between 35-37" tall, and with the same gears, so it should do good then.
Kirk how do you like the sound off the Head unit only?
It's not bad, even just off the HU it's a big improvement. I can't wait until I get an amp though.

They'll really shine with an amp on them. :cheer: When you get the money you need to go ahead and deaden your doors and add a mdf baffle if you already haven't.

After I get the sub in there, and both amps, the next project is gonna be to deaden the cab. But I want everything for the system first.

 deadening is the best thing I've done to my truck so far. You should see it when I crank it a little and the back window starts to flexs about an inch.

Well my windshield flexs about a 1/8in or soo. Not to bad. My windshield is all spider webbed anyways.
Ok, so I've been meaning to post these pics all day, but I've been gone. So, here's what audio stuff I've done so far:

Torn apart for painting:D And drying out everything. And cleaning up that clusterfvck of wiring you see hanging down on the passenger side.

Looks good Kirk!
Do you think the High's are going to make in your line of work being mounted that low?
Jay
Well, Im hoping they'll be fine there. Only problem is that's about the only flat surface on my door panels with enough room behind it to mount something. The only other good surface is around my window crank, so I'd hit it with my hand every time I opened or closed teh window.
Right now though, my only worry is dropping off in a water hole wheeling and screwing up everything:eek:

How do you like the sony? How much was it?
I like it, it's been in my truck since I bought it about 2 years ago.:D
I'm not sure how much it cost though, it was a gift from my parents since my truck didn't have a HU when I bought it.

No wet rag, I finally got all the water out of teh interior:lol:
It'll get a good cleaning before the nice freshly painted black interior pieces go in:D Well, they don't really look nice now though, it was too cold when I sprayed them I guess, they didn't turn out right.

ohh i gotcha. hell i cant stand havin a dirty interior. screw what the outside looks like. i've vacuumed the inside twice since last sunday. need to do it again soon.
Got all the pieces I had out painted today, sprayed everything with black. Maybe I'll have a chance to do the door panels by this weekend, but the dash is gonna have to wait until next weekend, if I even paint it. I may just strip off the factory paint (that's already peeling) and leave it plain black plastic. I dunno. I'll try to get some pics in a little while. Paint is drying now.
Meh, crappy pics, but all I've got for now:D

That's what the other build thread is for. This is my thread for everything else. Started this one when I did the 6" RCX, started the SAS thread to keep things more organized by having all the SAS stuff in one thread by itself.
Finally got what I have painted in the truck last night, here's a couple quick pics. The door panels, a-pillars, and dash still have to be painted, and I couldn't get all the stain out of the floor mat, but I think it's starting to look a little better.

Dirty... real dirty.
Dude, on that floor mat, I pressure washed it, scrubbed it, then pressure washed it again. Trust me, it's a lot better than it was. But it's been covered with GA clay for 2 years.
The door panels will be washed thoroughly before being painted. And the seats won't be in there much longer (hopefully).

Im making progress :aniteef: Axle swap is pretty much done, hell, its driveable at least. I pretty much just lost interest in doing interior stuff. I started modifying this truck within a week of buying it, and Ive been constantly working on it since, which has been a little over 3 years now. Im just tired of working on this damn thing for a while.
Doesnt matter though, I cant even get in the truck now, broke my ankle. Find out Wednesday if I'll need surgery or not. Most likely I will, so I wont be able to work on my crap for a while.
