I am searching for a plug and play factory CD player for my 1995 C3500HD. I am under the impression that aything 2002 and older from an SUV or truck will fit perfectly. Just unplug old, plug in new and slide in. Is this correct?

If so, i want a OEM GM CD player for my truck. I love keeping things close to stock, so i will be going with a 2002 or older GM truck/SUV stock CD player. what models should i look for? Is any of them OK as long as they have the factory cooling fan?

Also, what is a good price?

And finally, how exactly do these mount, and how are they removed?

Any input appreciated, thanks.

If your cassette player looks like this (http://replacementradios.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_28_78&products_id=114), you can just add the remote CD player to it and have both CD and cassette: http://replacementradios.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_28_78&products_id=240

Just pry off the trim around the dash, push down the two tabs on the side of the radio, and pull it out.

Thanks for the reply! I do like the auxillary separate CD player, but i like the little cubby more. I have checked on e-bay, and there are many nice working takeouts for 50 -200 bucks.

was any CD player made w/o the fan? cause the fan looks to be a good item to have.

don't wory about the fan. I think they may all have it. Be carefull when you pull the dash piece off the hazard switch is kinda in the way. You don't want to break it as its part of the multifuncion switch (expensive) Also you need the key on to get the shifter out of the way of the dash piece. as soon as its off put the truck back in park and take the key out. the ac panel has ignition hot connections on the back of it and if you touch it with the antenna wire you can smoke the ac panel. Just a few extra cautions from someone that has done hundreds of those trucks!

I have the one, the only, the STICK! :rocking: i love stick, and here is a good reason to as well, nothing in the way except the hazard when pulling dash!

Thank you very much for your reply! also, is it just clips holding dash on? how are they released?

No tools required to do the swap at all. Pull the dash out a little and unsnap the headlight switch from the panel. This is much easier that trying to unplug it.

if my dash is separated already a little bit on the top left corner (right by the a-pillar) is this a sign that i just need to replace/adjust a clip? or is a piece of dash plastic broke somewhere? It is just even, steady pressure on the whole big piece of dash to get it to come off? or is there a special tool to make this easier?

Also, i have seen on e-bay that there are factory players, but instead of the plastic rails, they have steel brackets, little ones by the radio face. What gives?

you need the radio with the black plastic rails. The others are for cars. Just pull the dash piece no tools needed.

I noticed that on e-bay, the face is identical, but the car/small truck has the metal brackets, and the truck has rails.
