Stopped for Loud Exhaust?? Please post here!

loud exhaust tickets are easy to beat because its what I call a hearsay law and I've beat a few of them. don't get me wrong its a pain in the ass to go to court make your statement and all the hasle that goes along with it. and dealing with cops is just a pain in the ass also.

only way to get a ticket mostly around here for loud exhaust is having no exhaust at all usually.

Cops in my town dont mess with v8 people, Its just them damn ricers. I had a 79 350 1500 once awile back, drove it for a few weeks with open headers and never got stopped in it, arround the same time my buddy had a plymouth lazer he put a fart can on it and got stopped every outher day... go figure!

My buddy has a built STi, and he gets stopped all the time for "illeagaly modified exhaust" and i run straight pipes and never get looked at. My other buddy has an '02 GT Mustang with BBK longtubes, offroad H-Pipe and SLP LM2s and he hasn't gotten pulled over yet. That car is LOUD

Now dont get me wrong, im sure that if i past a cop wfo, he'd prolly have somethin to say about my exhaust and every outher thing he could find about my rig, but I try to stay out of the gas as much as i can nowdays......TRY.:aniteef:

I have a prelude with an aftermarket exhaust, but a QUIET exhaust and when the cop pulled me over for illegal tint, he gave me an exhaust ticket without even HEARING the exhaust.

Stupid Louisiana state troopers...they're anal about everything. I told him "Do you pull over every Harley Davidson and give them illegal exhaust tickets too?"...that just cheezed him off even more lol.

i got pulld over not because my exhaust but because the cop could hear me then turned and saw me flying down the road. if it was quiet i woulda sneaked on by. he said i really had my foot in it. i said nah just sounded that way lol

ive been pulled over to many times to count but no fines just warnings so far...thank god

I believe in Ohio there is a no muffler law. Basically if you have a muffler your ok. If you don't then you may get a ticket.

I was showing off to a friend, had the cut-outs open, it was about 11:00 am and I was jumping on the freeway, he was on the freeway, was speeding up to try to get around me, I mashed it hard, transmission kicked it back into 2nd @ about 65, and I jumped way out ahead of him. The city I live in just started buying chargers and this one was under cover.

Fine - Look of disbelief followed by a friendly chat to figure out what the hell just happened. Did not even get a warning.

lol... sooo true about the cops not messing with us V8 guys(well in my area anyway) my brother had his Sentra SE-R all blacked out and had one of those fart cans on it, he got tickets everyday and muliple tickets at a time 'till he took the tints off, got a new set of taillights(stock), and put a stock muffler back on. ive got a 454 with no cats and flowmaster 40 series(LOUD), tinted windows, tinted taillights.. and the only time i got pulled over was cause i passed a cop twice in 5 mins. with the tints up at like 3 in the morning and the first thing he says when he gets to my window is "nice truck, what is it?" hahaha and no ticket, just seeing wat i was up to. lol :rocking:

Thats like me in my Ram. Its got a flowmaster 40 on it and JBA shorty headers, its pretty loud. My windows are SUPER dark all the way around. Even the front windows are illegal and have been, nearly since I bought it. Its black and on the stock 20" wheels, knock on wood the worst I have gotten in it was a speeding ticket for 48 in a 35, I met the officer head on, was running late for work.:argue:

Last Thursday I was drivin home from work kinda tired and pissed as usual as to how stupid drivers are in town; get caught in the lane that you can either turn left of keep straight (4 lane road btw), traffic is clear in the other lane so I pin it to whip around the two cars I'm behind, look up the street and there sits a Durham City Police officer. He pulls up beside me at the insuing stop light and toots his air horn, i roll my window down. Convo between us:
Me: "Yessir?"
Cop: "You need to learn to slow it down!!"
Me: "Sir, I never topped 30mph."
Cop: "Well it sounded like your were flying!!"
Me: "The truck has exhaust and its loud but there is no way i could get from where I was to where you saw me in enough time to top 30mph."
Cop: "Well thats a 25mph zone so keep it under that!!"

The only reason I even gave as much argument as I did is because I install radars in police cars almost everyday where I work and there is no possible way at all no matter what radar he had (unless hand held, but Durham City has MPH and Kustom dash radar) that he could get a reading on my speed and by time I passed him I was completely off the throtle and glanced at my gauges and say the needle coast up to 30mph and start falling.


To anyone planning on speeding, police radars have a very good range and they CAN clock you from 90 (ie: a T), and they can pick up very small objects (such as a blow gun)

Never got stopped for my exhaust, but when stopped for speeding the cop told me to also accelerate slower since the exhaust is very loud when hitting the gas too fast.

When I had my Magnaflow Performance muffler on it, no cat and 2.5" tails with 3.5" Echo Chambers a cop asked me to start it up and rev it a bit. He said he was seeing how loud it was, but I know he wanted to hear how it sounded since he smiled real big when I revved it.
