i have a question and its prolly a really stupid one. last time when i was at the track i was having traction issues. i told my friend(who aint that smart) what i ran and he claims i shouldve ran my truck once in 4wd to see what it would have done? my question is isnt this a really bad idea? and would it actully slow me down or help me out. im not saying im going to try it cuz it sounds dumb but im just curious. and what would happen if i did try it once? blow the t-case or what???

Not a dumb question.

I launch in 4 HI all the time. The reason I do it is to get better launches by killing wheel spin.

I find that I run a quicker ET but at a lower MPH when running in 4 HI compared to 2 HI....

When I went to the track last time, I posted up before I went, and people were telling me to launch in 4wd, then shift out of 4wd after the launch, little did they know my truck was slow as sh*t before and I didn't need to. :aniteef: But that is was numerous people recommended so you should be fine doing it.

If you were breakin loose in the start when you launch and this solves your problem, there is a good possibility. What are the specs on your truck?

4wd Launches will be fine. It may speed you up it might slow you down. Since you spin the tires sounds like it should help you out. You won't really put any more stress on anything in 4wd. Good luck and let us know how it works out!
