ok so heres the deal...... im getting ready to get a new setup for my truck (87 2wd longbed 350 TBI) im lookin at the JEGS house brand headers 2 new magnaflow cats and thrush glass packs. i just wanna make sure everything will fit alright. i know its probably not the best setup in the world but hey, it works for me. like i said i just wanna make sure it will all bolt up alright without fitment problems. i just wanna make it from headers to cats to packs and dump. this might sound like a stupid question but will the headers come down far enough to just run everything straight out or will i have to have pipes coming down? any input would be loved. thanks guys!

Are you looking at shorties or longtubes? Either way both should be long enough to hook up an H or x-pipe to, and I do hope you plan on running a crossover with true duals.
You gonna do this yourself or have a shop put it all together?

long tubes and i was gonna have a shop install it.....my buddys dad owns a shop and said he would hook it up for like 20 bucks....i wouldnt deal with the headache for 20 bucks lol. but no, i had'nt planed on using and X or H pipe.....do i need to?? im trying to be as cheap as possible....BUT, i suppose i should do it right or not at all.... but would it make a big difference if i didnt??

well, ok so i was looking at jegs and summit and i did'nt realize i could get one for as cheap as they are..... now, do you suggest X or H pipes?? what would the difference be?

The difference is basically the H-pipe works better for lower rpm applications such as a truck like yours, whereas an x-pipe is better for a higher rpm application where the exhaust flows at a greater velocity. So i'd say go with an H-pipe, usually they're cheaper and give off a slightly deeper tone than an x-pipe, but really the choice is yours either way a crossover will give a noticable increase in torque.
This artice in Mustang forums explains the crossover concept pretty well: http://www.mustangforums.com/forum/2005-2010-mustangs/96138-cross-over-exhaust-pipe-explained.html

No problem, happy to help with the little knowledge I have. I look forward to hearing from you about how good it sounds when it's finished. I'll let you know how mine sounds as soon as I can get a camera.
