need opinions on exhaust

i have a 1998 c1500 with a 4.3 vortec, it has the factory exhaust on it and i am wanting something louder. i am going to just put a muffler on it and dump it under the bed. what would be the best sounding muffler to go with, and what size is the stock inlet

Not sure about inlet size, but i'd say just get a turbo muffler. Those flow much better than stock, they're deeper but not much louder. At any rate it'll be louder with it dumped but not by much. I wouldn't want a loud V6 anyways.

I think 2.5 in. Its smaller than the V8's whitch were 2.75. Get a 22" magnaflow, it'll last forever.

My 305 truck has 3" exhaust, I thought just 99+ V8 half tons had 2.75" exhaust but I don't know about those newer trucks.

i just replaced mine, it was 3 in out of the cat for like 8" then it reduced to 2.75.
