My truck has an 06 LQ9 with open cone filter, tune, and catback exhaust. It's a rebuilt and beef'd up 4l60e tranny with stock 3.73 gears. What's your predictions? I'm hoping for 300+ but we shall soon see...

Just got home(I had to strap my car down too lol) and she is a far cry from the predictions. I don't have the graphs cause the printer was broke but he's going to email it to me. It put down 248/290 and this was a dynojet. Damn thing has a lot of drivetrain loss. :)

damn man...time for a custom BB tune and some more bolt ons..
the 285's cant be helpin with the 3.73 gears though..a cam would wake that bish up

Yup, i'm gunna have to swap the 285's out for some 185's from a neon or something. Haha the tune feels really good, a/f is great and it's pushing good timing with no knock. It's a completly stock 6.0 besides i/e and tune.

Ouch....
Thanks for posting actual numbers instead of BS.....I'll give you credit for that....
Now get a better tune...

add some longtubes into the mix and a good dyno tune. My 1500HD with the 4L80E tranny made more power than that on 35's.

I still have the stock 5.3 ypipe on and that things tiny, I think that's chocking it pretty badly. I'm going to order longtubes and a new y with some of my tax return.

Mine made 236-238 HP at the wheels according to my datalog on 2 different full throttle runs (not sure how accurate that is) before my tune. Either mine was off or your was because you should have way more than 10 more HP that me.

thats respectable for a motor rated at 300HP. but isnt the lq9 rated anywhere between 350-390 depending on what it came out of escalade, denali, what not.

LQ9 was ONLY rated at 345hp/380 lb/ft torque.
The HD trucks got the LQ4 and were rated at 300/360
Denali AWDtruck/C3 AWD truck/ Denali SUV were 325hp LQ4's.

It's definitely the manifolds holding you back, I would guess that with LT's and a better Y-pipe, you'd pick up at least 15hp and that much or more torque.

Great to hear real numbers!! I have a lq4 I think(01 6.0 in a 2500HD). I would like to dyno next summer sometime but this give me a ballpark.

i was just pulling the numbers for the lq9 out of my ass. i really didnt have a clue what they since its rated different in so many applications. hence why i stated it as a question

Ya I knew that y was going to hold me back, it's a tiny little bastard. :( But it's a good baseline anyways, hopefully some LT's and y with some tune tweeking will bring her back where she should be. What's really sad though is this current combo would KILL my poor 5.3, it makes me scared to see what it would've put down... :banghead:

Those numbers arent far from what I would assume with just a stock 6.0

Yea a 5.3 usually does ~200 to the tires.

Little bit late and only 80hp off. I know you just didn't read the all the replies but it is more fun to give you ****!

Nice run, about what I would expect for a stock 6.0 on a Dynojet. Run it on a Mustang dyno and those numbers will drop another 10-15 HP and torque another 15 or so. I would be interested to see the curve and the AFR readings, I bet its pretty flat once the RPMs come up and then falls off quick (tiny cam and stock manifolds).

Oh and one interesting tidbit we did 150 mph on the dyno! It seemed like it was forever getting from 40-150 in 3rd gear.

The LQ9 is only rated at 345hp no matter what application its in.
Most questions use a question mark.

Thats dangerous, the shop should have known better. That big, heavy, unbalanced (for that rpm) driveshaft, and truck tires with no more than a S-speed rating (112 MPH). I make all my dyno pulls in 2nd gear, because with my van at 6,000 rpm thats 105 mph.

That was way off unless you engine revs way past 6000, which it doesn't. If you do the math with your gears and RPMS, you were not doing anywhere near 150.
Just for reference a stock LQ4 6.0 with 285's and 4.10's would be diong 143 mph in 4th gear at 6000 RPMs.
It's still interesting though.

That was reving right to 6000 in 3rd gear, 3rd was locked in via HP tuners. I have 3.73's btw and 150 was what the dyno read as far as speed. My speedo goes to 100 and it took forever to start dropping after I let off the gas.

Wrong, most stock 5.3s put down 240-260 to the wheels. These numbers are fairly low for a 6.0. Good torque numbers though. Most stock 4.8s put down 230-240. Some a little lower, some a little higher.

Ok small update here, I haven't re-dyno'd it yet but I put LPP headers on and it seemed to give a good bump as far as the ass dyno goes.
But the real reason i'm updating is I got curious today as to why it was so low in the first place so I pulled a spark plug and fished around with a screwdriver and sure enough the pistons are dished, thus meaning it's a LQ4. I'm going to run the vin I was given with that motor and see what it says it is, my guess is that it came from a regular Yukon and not a Denali. It does kinda give me a little peace knowing it's a LQ4 putting down those numbers and not a LQ9.

A PCM tune will get you within 5hp of a tuned LQ9.
