I am planning on installing a line lock on my 2001 GMC truck. It has ABS and I was wondering if anyone knew any problems with this? My thought was install a fused switch in place of the ABS fuse so if there was going to be a problem then the ABS will be turned off. Thanks for the input.

yeah, turn off the ABS when you are going to use the line lock

Do you know this for sure? Will it cause damage to the abs pump? The more I think about it, it shouldn't. Because the fluid is just stopped from returning to the abs pump. Then the brake pedal isn't pushed so the abs pump it un operational anyhow. There for I stand on the throttle and the different wheel speeds won't matter since it doesn't have traction control.
I think I am going to post abs on ebay and sell it anyway. I don't need it on a drag toy and if I can make a few dollars then that is more money I can put into the truck somewhere else.

i don't get it ...whats the big deal...line loc is like being on a dyno....front wheels not moving rear wheels spinning...light comes on .... no big deal

Good call. I don't think it would be a big deal but I didn't know. You have made a very good point. I am finaly going to get around to putting the stinking thing on monday. We will see how it goes.

ya i would just put it on... worst thing i could think of is the computer would think there is a ABS problem and your ABS light will come on. which i believe means its disabled. then just cycle the key off and on and the light should be back out.
either way whats the worst... the pump goes bad and then you just remove it and straight line it... i wouldnt think a abs unit would go for much anyways.

The abs unit on ebay is around $125. I was actualy thinking about selling it and removing it all togather and putting the money I get from selling it into something else.

I deleted abs on my t/a. Put a line lock and adjustable proportioning valve in its place (proportions front to back pressure).
Just pull the ABS block out and plumb the 3/16" brake lines together with a T or Union. Plumb front to front and backs to backs. Put the line lock on the fronts somewhere b/w the master and the caliper (but b4 it tees off to the 2 front calipers). Will need a good double flaring tool to make the flares in the line. I plumbed the proportioning valve (Willwood makes it) b/w the master and calipers on the rear brake cirucit.

I have a friend's $300 hydraulic flair tool. I am strongly considering removing the abs. Maybe I might finally put the line lock on tomorrow after work but probably not till Thursday because I am going to see David Allen Coe in concert.

If you want to disable your ABS, just pull the fuse and extend the circuit with spade connectors, then throw on an inline fuse and a switch. Put the switch on the dash and you'll be able to kill ABS at any given time.
Someone did a nice writeup about this a wile back. Results seemed good. I'm not sure if it would preserve the pump from mechanical damage.

Hearing that someone has done this is what I was looking for! I don't expect any problems but per chance it seemed to cause a problem removing the fuse and installing a switch was my plans. Don't happen to have a link for the wright up do you?

Been a wile but I finally installed a line lock. Left abs in tack and no changes other than installed the line lock. No problems with breaking at all. Works well.

I have my drag tires on but after the track tomorrow if she doesn't blow up I will be making a burnout vid. I know it won't hold up to the fire ball but should make some sick smoke!
