Ok so i got tired of my old crappy pioneer tens and a make shift box that we kinda threw together so we started playing around... i aquired 3 jl0w3's. we tried to do the behind the seat thing, but since i am tall and fat it aint working. So out first kinda goof off idea was i took the ported console box tthat i made like 6yrs ago that i had in there with the pioneer 10's and we basically cut another hole in it... i sounded...ehh ok it db'd at a 133.7. it looked like sh*t and we wanted to do soemthing different. pics of rigged setup....http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll239/drubob23/IMG00192.jpg
with the sub cut in...http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll239/drubob23/IMG00197.jpg
so what we have come up with is a downward firing center console that will hold all 3 subs.. it is ported and tuned at 34hrz. we got it al cut and are waiting for the glue to dry. so i figured that i would post pics and get some feedback...

Is the particle board permanent?
I'd change that to MDF a.s.a.p.
Cool idea tho.

Audible noise coming from the port, like whistling or any other sound not created by the sub itself.

What are the box specs? Gross volume? Port area? port length?

And the port noise will come from the front baffle extending over the front of the port, it creates a very tiny amount of disturbance but impacts the entire ports airflow. The noise might not be bad, but there will be atleast a small amount of port noise.

i doint remember all the specs off hand i got them at the house...the port is to jl spec on that. hey called for a 4 inch round port nine inches long. that is the square equivilent.. the front baffle doesnt stick over the edge of the port. besides that is a down firing box. the port is on the top....?

Well whatever that lip is that sticks above the port. Also you do realize that port tuning is also dependant on the overall internal volume? That is to say, if the spec says that you need a 4 inch round port nine inches long with an internal volume of 2 cubes, the same port with 2.5 cubes will yield a different tuning frequency.

I would recommend putting a thin padding on it first before wrapping it. Looks like a nice build btw!

that box looks pretty small for three 10's ported.
what the airspace on that?
i've got a single 12(dc audio lvl 4) in a 2 cube tuned to 33 htz console and it takes up the whole center of the truck.
i also hit a 137.4 sealed up on the dash with a rf t10001bd.

soundstream is only rated at 1k watts... i need more power... that box is almost 3.5 cubes it is a little on the small side, but the only thing i really listen to is rock.. i left it on the small side to keep the real punchy bass in it. jl called for 1.25 a sub ported. i am close..
