so far i like em. just hacked off the stock muffler and with some adaptors made them fit to my pipes. welded a little bar to both stock pipes since only 1 was on the hanger, but i still need to rig up a rear hanger. ill do that after payday this friday.
i was hoping to use these band clamps on the whole setup BUT after i chopped off the muffler i found i had the wrong size band clamps for the adaptors BUT napa closed so i just used some weak style U bolt clamps for now.

id like to get some pipes to take them both out the back. just dont have the cash to pay to have that done right now!
im not sure if ill weld in a x pipe or not tho.... im not to worried about alittle lost hp... hell my other vehicle is a 100hp civic.LOL trucks got plenty of power for me!
i just like the meanness it has now...

well enough chat heres a few videos.... and a few of them are just for fun. ;)

Probably cheaper too.

Those 2 1/4's sure look cute compared to my single 4 inch bullet.

mine sounded like that stock :dunno: seems quiet imo

well trust me sounds alot better in person... a lot throatier!!!
for some reason my camera sucks for video with audio...

and today i stopped by local muffler shop and they quoted me 163bucks to run duals out the back.... so friday i got a appointment at 8am to get my pipes welded up. ;)
no tips yet tho. im to tight on cash to get anything more than just the pipes....

today im going to brace the rear of the bullets and hang them to the stock hanger just to ensure they dont go anywhere. im just waiting for the pipes to cool a bit right now.
hopefully the pipes out the back will help the highway drone a bit. BUT im not to worried about drone because thats why i got a nice stereo in the truck. :rocking: so i just gotta crank it a bit louder and i cannt hear the drone.

very happy with the mufflers. i think its funny how some people walking turn around all scared or something from the rumble at low speeds.

im sure they do look nice on some large pipes ;) but i don't plan on putting any large pipes on. i just want a nice rumble like i got now. im happy :boobies:
no need for overkill so 2 1/4s works great. i could have actualy used 2inch then i could have bolted it onto the stock piping.

well i got done fabing up a hanger for the rear and a cross brace to hold both mufflers together.
my brace welds are good but then when i started to weld the hook hanger to it my welders tip kept sticking and after a few dozen times of sticking i said O WELL good enough... ill just ask the muffler shop guy to put a good weld on it just to be safe for me.
and no i dont have any more tips for the welder... thought i did but NOPE :nopity:

i need to buy some more tips before i do my next welding project.
something seems to happen every time i start welding and geting the hang of it again. last time my friend screwed with the gas regulator and i didnt know it and i was building him a battery box for his old school whip since his just rusted away and battery was hanging by the cables. still turned out good tho.

Run 2 pipes out the side in front of the passenger tire, then you'll have money for tips. It'll be cheaper, less weight and in my opinion look a lot better. And as long as they exit out the side and not under the truck or even dumped, it shouldn't be too loud in the cab especially with the rest of the exhaust stock.

well i thought about putting it out infront of the wheel but i have not seen any trucks with side exit that i like the looks of. :(
but i do like the rear pipes looks..... so i think ill just stick with them.
i can always buy tips and weld them on myself.... this time ill be sure im buying some stainless steel tips!!! my old truck was not and they rusted badly within a year... very disappointed with them!

What about how Underpowered has it in the first pic he posted in this thread: http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/general-discussion/performance/exhaust/372378-exit-locations-cab-noise.html I think it looks awesome like that and if I didn't have tails and tips already for the Sierra, it'd get side exit tips like that.

Also about your other question concerning sound level of your exhaust, a crossover will make it very noticably deeper and quieter. I got one fitted in my Silverado for $40 and it took about 10 minutes so there's no reason not to get one, i'd say have it put in just after the cats it'd sound the best and make the most power that way (yes I know your other vehicle is a 100hp Civic but you can never have too much power, besides these trucks need all the help they can get and the power gain isn't huge but it's noticable on the butt dyno) :aniteef:

Oh and it also reduces drone by a lot, at least it did on my truck now I can tolerate it driving to work at 5:45AM

ok well i got the pipes welded on now and it is quieter on the inside now. still a bit of drone at higher speeds but not to bad at all! only thing i need now is some nice tips. but im to broke to get them right now. i forgot i had to buy new tags today since they expire tomorrow :( so there goes all my extra cash for the next 2 weeks

everyone and their mother has pipes straight out the back.. i personally HATE it like that :puke: .. put some 45 degree pipes on it out each corner

SierraDan
03-06-2009, 05:37 PM
I don't really like the 45 degrees out the corner, looks like a french whore spreading her legs to take it once again. There's a reason for the straights out the back, it looks great. But you can do whatever you want to your car or truck. It's also a pain to clean off all the junk you'll get from the tires on the tips.

Look at my other response in the other Dynomax Bullet thread for the solution to your problem.

The system looks good. Kinda makes me wish had duals, but I'm pretty happy with just the single exhaust. Still sounds good, and it was cheap. If I had true duals like yours then I'd do it. I had a similar setup on my 98 I had.
