After some advice from my brothers and sisters here at FSC I have begin to tackle redoing my maroon and carpet door panels to black and suede. I will be posting pics as I go.

Inbetween

http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/cimg0028r.jpg/1/w640.png (http://g.imageshack.us/img19/cimg0028r.jpg/1/)

http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/cimg0030o.jpg/1/w640.png (http://g.imageshack.us/img18/cimg0030o.jpg/1/)

and since I don't sleep that is what i have accomplished as of 1:00 am. I still am going to lightly mist some more layers to get rid of some lines in the paint.

Now for the Q and A's

1- I tore the maroon carpet off and the used goo gone and got most of all the hair off but whats left is uneven and sticky, so would it be stupid to glue suede straight to that or should i go get a flat piece of foam and mold it to the spot, glue it in place and then form suede around that or what?

2- On the fabric on either side of the door handles, the tabs broke off so i figures i would just wrap in suede then glue them back in place?

3- Anyone know how I can fix my arm rest?

Any tips or tricks would be most appreciative. When i finish this door panel you better believe I will have a in depth write up for how to do this and the materials need

I honestly don't know how to re-do the bottom, but looks killer so far.

I would think mold the foam then add the suede so its finish will be nice and smooth. I wouldnt know how to fix your arm rest becuase mine is similar and I havent figured out what to do yet.
When I see how your bottom edge turns out with the suede, I might have to do mine, I think it will look really good.

Don't do suede on the door bottom, It's gonna get the crap kicked out of it and look like s**t in a month.

The ones I got were a little bigger than the factory clips on the oval part that goes into the panel. You just push one side into the hole, then slide the other side and twist the thing 90 degrees. They kinda snap and stay pretty snug in there.

Yea I'm getting more clips tonight. I lost my patience and got too mad. So I will attempt this tomorow after school

Wow your panels are in realy good shape compared to mine. I was thinking about spraying the bottom of mine with bed liner but i dont know how well it will stick to plastic.

Idk much but i think if you would get a can of adhesive promoter it might stick after you clean it really well with something that doesnt leave a residue like denatured alcohol or acetone wipe it down really good then spray the adhesive promoter then the bed liner stuff im not sure it would work but thats what id do

Make sure its clean, scuff it up just a little, and spray away. Did that with a few of my interior peices, and they are holding up quite well with the bedliner spray.

walmart has all sorts of good fabrics for CHEAP. I bought a few yards of black suede for like $1.50 a yard and it looks no different really then the stuff i payed $16.00 a yard for

I've tried to put fabric over plastic and it doesn't work, definitely put some foal on there first or it'll look stupid when they expand/contract different and wrinkle on you.
