what wire harnesses do i need for a 2006 install

Yes you do. It depends on the brand of radio you have and whether or not you have the remote to said radio.

i pan on getting a pioneer radio. so what model do i need for the steering wheel controls and for the the chimes and stuff to stay

Which Pioneer? Most of them have a wired remote input, in which case you need the pac swi-ps.

Does you truck have bose or onstar?
