I have a 95 chevy c1500 with the small block 350 Tbi.. The tranny is a 4l60e. 3.42 Rear end. I want MORE power out of my truck. we are thinking about attempting a Tpi swap, If for nothing more than looks.
What i am wondering is if its worth it to do this swap or to modify the The existing engine, Which has been trouble free. I am open to other suggestions and look forward to hearing some.. I am 17 and new to Swapping idea.

wow being 17 i understand the lack of knowledge about tbi 350s. im only 22 and dont know crap either. but for one. gears. change those 342s! go to a 373 ratio at least. ull instantly have more lowend power and acceleration with now engine mods!
next i would never ever do the swap u suggested, especially because its just stupid. go to tbichips.com do research on his articles and builds on tbi tuning. this is the most important thing! u can build whatever u want to a engine, with out tuning
your tbi and getting a chip u got nothing and a lot to learn.
keep your tbi. get a bigger cam by calling comp cams they have a free hotline and will recomend u a cam for ur needs so u dont have to ask on here and get smart ass answers.
then get long tube headers a 3inch single exhause into a nice muffler
get a nice air intake to top it off.
now thats a budget minded build
but its good for decent power
remember to finish it off with the computer chip!
brian at tbichips can answer any questions about tuning.
this is the easiest and cheapest route to power
if ur young and have no money or knowledge on tbi.
neither do i! but i learned a lot on here.
also, the stock cam in your engine and mine sucks!
its wimpy as hell
the tbi heads make good lowend so a little bigger cam will do wonders with a good tune and exhaust.
hope i helped forget the tpi! its not worth your money if your young like me

I was wondering the same thing cause a stock tbi can only handle up to 250hp. then with the 670cfm tb can handle 275-300hp. so if you go over 300 what is left but a tpi conversion. my truck is running all it can with a stock tb and mine is somewhat quick from a start, but then I have no top end cause its too lean. I heard the cheapest way to fix the problem is a tpi system.

nope. xtremefi performance, has tbi units mine was a 570cfm big bore, that can handle over 300 horsepower. easy. then you get 454 injectors, and a adj fuel pressure regulator, and higher flow fuel pump. and run what the chip burner tells you. fine so u want 400 horsepower? bigger injectors, higher fuel pressure, and 670tbi bang you got it.
theres no need for tpi man haha.

also my truck was dynoed with the 570 and a mailorder tune. almost made 300 horseys at the crank with a mild cam. fuel pressure was 18psi with 454 injectors. which is about 30ish with stockers. so make sure u got a highflow fuel pump(summit has a nice edelbrock for 102.00) and the regulator the chip burner will tell you where to run your fuelpressure and what kind of injectors based on how u build you engine.

also what kind of chip did you have?? with your stock tbi?
tbi size is never the problem, its usually in the tuning. if u got a built engine, i couldnt see someone burning a chip and saying to run it with a stock tbi.

I have to call BS on that bro. it says in the summit catalog that the holley 670cfm tb can handle up to 275hp I have a friend that has tried running more power from throttle bodies and finally had to go out and spend a grand and get the 900CFM 4 barrel throttle body. if I go more power on my truck it will be with the tpi setup, or a carb.

LOL your both full of it. im running a stock TBI with just TBI mods and im at 320hp. so the stock TBI is definately big enough

I agree with you. I made 310+ FWHP with the stock 490 cfm TBI unit after TBI mods. Stock 61# injectors @ 25 psi. I put more engine under it and made 370 RWHP with a stock GM BBC TBI unit. Still running 61# injectors at around 45-50 psi, don't remember exactly.
The Holley 670 is only limited because of its 85 lb/hr injectors and the fuel pressure restriction on them.

I hope nobody ever asks this question again...
Don't ever think of swapping from the constantly proven TBI setup to the TPI. Especially in a truck.
And philv, read the freakin sticky about TBI tuning instead of asking questions that are already answered. CFM isn't the only factor that determines how much HP your fuel injection system can handle. That friend that "had" to spend a grand on a new throttle body wasn't too informed either. Your gonna spend a lot of money to make your truck TPI and it really won't be any better than TBI. But if you've just got the money burning a hole in your pocket, than feel free to do so I reckon...

haha philv please man. your gonna lose this one. holley tbis suck who said anythign about those ahha. im talkin about xtremefi u obviously know nothing about tbi units. or these ones in particular. just let the posts by these guys prove it. a tpi is stupid when tbi can fuel what u need if u listen to wat i said. have u read anything on these trucks and tbi tuning at all? i guess not. no offense im just saying, u have no clue what your talkin about. read below its simple. if u get these things it will fuel whatever you need.
fuel pump
fuel pressure regulator
injectors
bored tbi unit
computer chip and proper tuning
this is all you need
this is a fact not bull****.
i only say this cause theres
about 10000 threads on this already use ur search funtion and see how full of bs i am
wish people would stop with these questions when its been beat to death then we get guys that dont do anything
