Need some advice on how to pull this off..

My LPP Longtubes are on the way, and for right now, they'll be feeding my single 3" Ultraflow. But what i ultimately want to do is an X pipe feeding dual SLP Loudmouth II mufflers, and exiting the rear on the passenger's side, like how Gibson's Dual Sport exits. Here's a quick chop of what i want:

What i'm thinking is cutting the Y pipe and welding in a 3"-dual 2.5" Y to split it back off, then running the pipes to the mufflers. Problem is, i can't find anywhere that sells just a dual tailpipe setup like that without the muffler and all that other ****. I dont want to take it to a local muffler shop because i know the one here is just going to kink-bend the pipe and then weld it all together as one big ass piece.

Any ideas on where i can find the tailpipes like this?

whats wrong with welding it? how did you plan on attaching it?

That looks like a great setup, but if you aren't against the idea: get some short 90 degree mandrel bends from Summit and run dual tips to the side like that, only in front of the rear passenger tire. It'll be a little louder inside but it won't be that much worse. I have mine exiting in front of the rear tire and I only hear it on acceleration, and it's still quiet. I have an 18" Magnaflow and a highflow cat.

the problem with welding it is the last time i had an exhaust done by this guy, it was one piece from the header collectors all the way to the tip. If i ever have to drop the **** (like i did on that car more times than i care to remember) it requires cutting and welding. My plan was to have ball-and-socket flanges or band clamps holding everything together so that at least the tailpipes and the mid-section are removable separately.

The problem with the side exit is the truck is lowered 6" in the rear, and i dont want to have any clearance issues. Plus i had the side exit exhaust on it at one point and wasnt too thrilled about it. Plus i dont plan on having tips on it either.. i'm thinking of just dumping it just out of view behind the tire. I dont want to dump it under the truck because i dont want the drone and the smell. my exhaust is dumped right now and i dont care too much for it.

Thats going to be a nice set-up. Ive been debating for months on what I want to do. Keep my Thorleys and go that route or get some LTs and make me some side pipes.

As for welding it. You need to have some v-band clamps or 3 bolt flanges put in the mix.

If you exit in front of the rear tire you might have clearance issues with a 6" drop.

You won't have clearance issues with rectangular tips like the ones that come on the Gibson Supertruck and Nascar trucks. I would love those for clearance on my Mustang but they wouldn't look right.

I had that exact issue, then I got some ball and socket joints put on between the headers and collector. The only thing you need to take out is the crosspipe under the trans, everything rear of that can stay as one piece. Unless im missing something? :dunno:

I'm wondering if i can just get two of those passenger side 2.5" tails and just mounth them right next to each other. I'll probably have to extend the one on the inside (or shorten the other) slightly to line them up, but i think it could be done.
