I have a 2003 Chevy Suburban and today when I was driving it the speedometer started acting funny. It will move, but when it gets to about the 35-40 mph mark then it just sticks there. If I accelerate even more, eventually it will climb a bit higher but never past like 50-55 mph when I know I am going way faster than that. It will go down past the 0 mark when I am slowing down. All my other guages, including tach, etc, are still functioning. Any help as to how to fix this problem? Thanks!

IIRC this is a known problem with certain clusters having a defective stepper motor. Was covered under a TSB. If the dealer wont change it under warranty and you cant solder, the cluster will have to be replaced. Good time for an Esky cluster if so. Someone whose better informed than I will be along soon with a better answer.

Go to your dealer, this is covered by special policy 07187. Free replacement for 7 years or 70,000 miles from warranty start date. Between 70,001 and 80,000 miles GM pays for the cluster and you pay for the labor.

So if my vehicle has over 70,000-80,000 miles than is it still covered under the warranty?

Yes, But you pay for the labor. Which is like 80-115 a hour i think

Between 70-80 the part is free but you pay for the labor. After 80k you pay for the whole repair, unless your dealer will help you.
