ok this is my first time posting i have a 87 scottsdale lifted with 35's on it. last week i shatterd my spider gears in the rear end it is a 10 bolt 8 1/2 ring gear with 308 gears i have a 86 1 ton diesel (not dually) with a 14 bolt 10 1/2 ring gear is there anyway i can take the spider gears out of that diesel for my 87 please help im a noob

no you would have to swap axles and you should anyways since those gears are far to small for that size tires.

35s are pretty big for 308s

I had 35's on 307 or 308 gears and it wasn't too bad but its not the best for the trans. You should just take the 14 bolt and hook it up to the other truck. It should just bolt right in.
By the way xpndbl3 your burb looks so clean

find a 10.5 inch 14 bolt out of a 3/4 ton and you wont have to move the spring perches...swap in the 1 ton and your going to have to move them

You should just take the 14 bolt and hook it up to the other truck. It should just bolt right in.no, it wont, 1/2 and 3/4 ton spring perches are the same width, 1 tons are narrower.

3.08s arent enough gear for stock tires, much less 35s.

By the way xpndbl3 your burb looks so clean

thanks brought it over from cali about 3 years, couldn't be happier with it. going a 1 ton axle swap and a 5.3L swap out of a 04 avalanche shortly, almost have all the parts. 4 wheel discs and 4.10s with another 75hp more than stock. woo woo

ya it'll be a while before i start it since I still have 2 race cars to complete for people this season, then I can get going on my stuff....finally.

that 10.5 will have 8 lugs, so you'll have to buy 6 lug axle shafts and disc brakes.

xpndbl3, how is your turbo camaro going?

that 10.5 will have 8 lugs, so you'll have to buy 6 lug axle shafts and disc brakes.axle shafts will need to be turned down, though since they dont have lug studs, you'll have to have wheel hubs made or modified for 6 lug, then come up with disc brakes pretty much on your own. keeping 6 lugs with a 14FF is not worth the effort it takes. for what you'll have in converting it to 6 lug, you could buy a matching front axle (you do know your gears have to match, right?), and a set of 8 lug wheels to complete the swap.

xpndbl3, how is your turbo camaro going?

sold off the twin turbo setup about a year ago to a guy who saw it at a car show, now I have a carbed ls1 setup in the car and I'm really happy with it.

I have 3.08's in my truck with 35's, not the best set up, would be happier with at least 3.73's.

looks like I'll be running 4.10s in my truck when I do the 60 swap in, I'm ok with 4.10s and 35s, I ran 33s and 3.73s on my other truck for awhile.

i'm doing 4.10s and keeping the 35s, should be nice upgrade from the 3.73s I have in it now.

i had 35s with 3.08 gears on 10 bolts in my old truck (i was young and didnt know any better) badddd idea. i went through my fair share of trannys, gears, spiders, carriers, everthing but the shafts. i put 3.73s in my truck when i blew my 3.08s, and still wasnt enough. i then put in 4.88s, and those were great, a little much, but def nice. i now use 4.88s in my truck with 39.5s. i would def try to go with 4.56s with 35s. heres a good chart to go by: http://4lo.com/calc/geartable.htm
