Hello everyone, I started this thread in hopes of getting as much information as possible on this awesome place. I am also a member of blasterforum.com over on that site we have agreed to use this place for our national meet next year. We are hoping for at least 50 people, our goal is closer to 75 to 100 though.

Just a few questions to start this thread off

Is this a good place for fourwheelers? Im talking more of the trail side not the mx course

Has anyone messed with the MX Course?

What is the average number of people to show up on weekends?

How close are the campgrounds? How big are the campgrounds?

Any more info would be awesome guys. Thank you for your time and help

Matt

I havent been there in 2 years or so....I rode there about 10-15 times and we always had a good time, I ride a yz400f (2 wheeler) and love whole place, I hear that more and more trucks are being allowed there so that may have changed the layout slightly. When I used to go they only had a few suzuki/jeeps running around and the rest was bikes and quads, I was never a track guy and I would say the mx track was tough, 750 acres was the size with creek crossing, a short stretch of old railroad in the woods with tracks, very steep climbs in the sand dunes and woods, muddy sections, lots of gravel and sand hills, a paved road section about 700' long, over all very nice place when I was there, lots of parking (almost no shade), hot dog stand, free showers and pro shop. We never did a overnighter there so I couldnt say about the camping. ps: my friend broke his pelvis while riding with us and I must say the local fire rescue are very nice folks. very tough terrain and break neck stuff. edit: Maybe you have been here: http://www.coalcreekohv.com/main/trails

hey thanks for the info bud. i am trying my hardest to put this meet together for the other site. As much info as possible is great to pursuade people to go. Glad to hear that its fun. Thier website is a real big seller as it is professionaly set up and what not. Would you say that there is a good amount of "beginner trails"?. I would like to bring my mother with, she loves site seeing and what not. Also I have never been to any off road areas as of yet. The badlands will be my first off-roading experience. :rockin:

I would say anyone could ride the badlands, sure you can keep to the low road on the trails and you can access 90% of the park going easy, I dont think they allowed passengers on quads when I was there. but plenty of easy trails for the new riders. I have covered all of this ground in a long day to give you an idea of the overall size.

Two guys who'd have some more input would be DemonStalker and sbc_inside. They usually go about once a year, for the truck sections.

Is this a good place for fourwheelers? Im talking more of the trail side not the mx course----from what i rode it was alot of fun on quads. hills, some dunes, mud, trails. little bit of everything

Has anyone messed with the MX Course?--it cost extra so i never messed around on it

What is the average number of people to show up on weekends?--there were a ton of people there when i was there, but it was not crowded out on the trails, it is big enough people were spread around and it did not seem to crowded

How close are the campgrounds? How big are the campgrounds?--campgrounds are litterally in the entrance to the place. you can ride your quads from the campgrounds right to the park. some trails end up on the other side of the fence next to the camping area. the campground is pretty big, will accomidate alot of people

what forum is this for if i may ask? i used to frquent alot of quad forums before i got out of the sport for the most part.

i have been around. truck project is stalled pretty much, lack of motivation to finish it.

badlands is good for fullsize rigs. me, SBC_inside, and demonstalker went out there last year and both of them were in NBS trucks. in something a little more capable, a full size would be a blast out there.

i was there in july last year. weather was not to bad really. plenty of water to cool down in.

as for your PM. there are quite a few flatter trails. the place is an old rock quarry so there are basically gravel roads covering most of the park. you could take a 2wd truck down many main trails without issue.
