need opinions?advice from the sound guru's.
i put new speakers in my truck. it's a 2006 rc/lb 2500HD.
i went cheap on the rear speakers and one is blown. I wanna get some better ones lol.
my front speakers are 3-way.
should i go with 2-way or 3-way speakers for the rear? which will present a better "sound stage"?

It depends on the speakers. I would do either 5 1/4 for the rear with adapter plates (probably could just put em in without them though), or 5x7s. With 5x7s you might have to do a little cutting of the metal. Look at the efficiency rating. Get a 90db or more rating. Pioneer makes good lower priced speakers.

awesome, i'll pay attention to db ratings.
my fronts are pioneer and i love em.
i'd like to stick with 4x6 just cause i'm lazy
would having 3-ways in the rear sound odd?

which will present a better "sound stage"?No rear speakers at all, especially considering you have a regular cab.

i've seen this posted quite a bit.
is there a specific reason why having just the two fronts will result in a better sound?
i'll try this out before i get new rears

Well first, having rear speakers drags the "sound stage" behind you. It's just preference, but I like the sound stage to be in front of me, much like at a concert or listening at home.
Second, considering we are dealing with 4x6 speakers, nothing you can put in the rear is going to sound great. You will only be deteriorating the overall sound quality of your system by having 4x6's back there. Cutting in 5x7s isn't going to help much either.
Third, you have a regular cab. The rear speakers just scream almost directly into your ears.

agreed. you're going to be better off replacing the front stage all together than putting something cheap in the rear.
as far as 2 vs 3-way, its not going to matter. its just a way of upselling a speaker by putting more junk on it than it really needs.
