Fuel Gauge

I just bought a 1985 K-10. The fuel gauge is way off. When it's full it's about 2-3 inches down past the F and when it's empty it's just a shade under 3/8 tank. Any suggestions?

check the wiring, and the ground on the tank

Thanks. I'll give that a look. It seems like it has the full range of motion just like someone clocked the face counter clock wise so that the needle still moves just wrong on the face.
