Well i bought this 1995 GMC 3500 crewcab longbox srw for 300bux and he said there's a problem with the motor, he thought broken crankshaft. I figured for 300bux this would be a great start for my 6 door project truck with 10" of lift, well that's what i'm gonna be doing with this truck.

So i pulled it home on the trailer on wednesday. Parked it in my shop today and started working on it.

Well i took the oilpan off and found the carnage. First of all, the crank is cracked like we were thinking already.

And i found a lot of metal shavings and some pretty big pieces(see pic). But what concerns me the most is that nut that was in the oilpan. It's the exact same nut as the ones on the piston rods, but all the nuts are still on all 8 rods. So where can this one be from?

Here's some pics.
Here's the nut and one of the big metal pieces, kinda looks like it comes from a bearing maybe?

This pic you can see the cracked crankshaft.

And in this pic you can see some tiny shavings around the chain(left). Also, does this chain have to be very tight? Cuz i can easily wiggle it, it is pretty damn loose.

Thanks for ur help guys, appreciate it. I'd love to get this truck running again, really wanna build it into a 6door with 10" of lift. But i have to get the engine running first.

I'm thinking if your going to have that big of a truck and want it to have decent power one of these might be better for a powerplant:

Yup when i'm converting it to a 6 door (hopefully next year) i'm gonna put either a 12V or 24V Cummins in it with a 10 speed fuller tranny. But i want to have this truck running first and still drive it until i'm gonna start cutting it up.
