Getting true duals on my truck. Going with flowmaster 40 mufflers. Only thing holding me up is where i want it to come out, and what tips.

Here is my truck.

Dump them behind the axle or in the corners. If you get tips, maybe get black 3.5" slash tips. I would dislike big chrome tips on that truck!

If done correctly It looks good when you guys use adapters and a Diesel tip(4-5")...

I would drop 2inch tips or even just the exhaust pipe itself right out the corner. curl them down from the bed and just leave a couple inches poking out. Let em see just enough to open up the curiosity. I personally have 3.5x24 inch tips coming straight out the back, but I don't have a black truck and I have a decent amount of chrome on it.

I'd say straight out the back like the_husk has, but powercoated black. You can get regular aluminized piping angle cut and then just paint them, that would be cheap or get chrome tips off the shelf from an auto parts store and paint those.

This would look better on a short bed, but it works well because I have a hitch.

NICE truck, looks great.

This seems to be becoming more popular. Looks sleek to. It would look pretty sweet on your truck to.

I agree, I am pondering doin this to my truck for a few reasons, its easy, cheaper, and gives the exhaust more of an old muscle car tone, especially with Flowmaster 40's. Thats what my vote would go to.

Dumped. I just got rid of the 2 exhaust tips exiting behind my rear tires at an angle. I like the clean look SO MUCH BETTER!

for an OBS though, each tip angled out towards the tail lights. looks so good, my bagged truck had it when I first bought it and then we did it to my buddies truck. Best looking exhaust setup IMO

Dump it....

Because even if you decide to MAYBE, EVER, put a body lift on there, any kind of tail pipe is going to look dump. UNLESS your exhaust guy is really good and he can run it between the bed and the frame and dump it in the corners of the bed. Plus dumps give the truck a meaner sound and wont be too deadly inside if you get the outlets pointed the right way.

Mine are 45° out the sides. 4"x18" with 2½" piping. I will have them exited in front of the rear tire when i lower the truck 4/6 and add a rollpan.

Im thinking doing it like yours. with 3.5" angle cut rolled tips

bigred2004
10-31-2009, 09:11 PM
Yea I definately think you'd like it with the angle cut tips like that. Thats the best looking setup for OBS trucks. I would look into the diesel tip idea because most shops can expand adapters to make your 2.5" pipe go into 5 or 6" tips. But dont go any smaller than 3.5" because they'll just look like little pipes. Im sure Big Kennys truck sounds awesome.

This is how mine used to be before I cut them off and had them angled in front of the rear tires. The only reason they aren't like this is because I didn't have the money for new tailpipes, but i'll have them like this again, probably:
