Oh man, you'll have to head back next time we go. The quarry was the only part worth being in. Some of the trails were cool, but the rocks kicked ass. No wonder so many people live out in CA, AZ, NM, and CO. Rocks kick ass.

Despite all the rain we've been having, I was able to stay out of the mud all day. :rocking:

I however didn't :D

I really wanted to see you go through one of the long mud pits near the edge of the quarry, but kept getting distracted everytime I was close enough to ask.

Trying to get my buddy to upload the pix he took :teddy: (and the video of the "spinning wheel")

Oh and those guys in the rangers had some balls!

That is a little creepy..... I think that was when we were talking about the rock's surface characteristics. It was interesting, very crumbly and sandy; high traction though.

Badlands is an overused word. True "badlands" are in South Dakota and North Dakota. Cool pics none the less, nice.

Where do you guys go for this? I'm looking for a place to camp/wheel. Mainly with a four wheeler or dirt bike.

Thanks

the badlands is in attica Indiana, right on the IN/IL border. great place to wheel, a bunch of us get together for meets there a few times a year.

Is it just technical? any mud trails without the rocks and sh!t, I like my pretty paint!

look at the thread from last time we all went out there in the pics section.

anything from rocks like above, to open dunes to play on, and pretty much anything in between. open trails where your paint is not in danger, to super tight stuff, to rocks and lots of mud.

squeaky3
04-21-2010, 07:33 PM
ya ask derek and his roomate about the mud...they seemed to be the ones that wanted that the most....the rest of us mostly just stuck to the trails....and some of them are quite tight....some that you shouldnt put a fullsize truck...but o well it was fun and had a blast

i cant wait to go back again and again

squeaky3
04-21-2010, 07:41 PM
ya there is a campground literly on the road that leads into the park....its the best option of you are camping overnite while there....sometimes i heard it gets a lil crowded with trailers but if you tent camp then they usaully have no problem with you there

Underpowered
04-21-2010, 07:42 PM
there is actually a campground literally at the entrance to the park. you camp and can drive or ride right into the park. just a general little campground, nothin special.

i actually thought about setting my tent up on my trailer last time  saves space and would keep me off the damp ground.

lol that is a good idea...i remember you saying that you almost came with an enclosed trailer and was going to sleep in that

if my dad had came, we were planning on bringing his 30' goose enclosed trailer. thats what we do when we go quad riding. haul the quads in it, then once we get to where we are going, sleep in the trailer. he actually took a heater out of an old RV so it has heat, then cut a hole int eh rear door for a household window AC unit to slide in.

wow you guys dont play around...i wish i had that kinda setup...i dont even have a dedicated wheeling rig or trailer yet

it is a heck of alot cheaper than an RV or toy hauler. sure they would be 100X nicer, but all we need is a place to sleep, and it sure beats a tent. we had planned on putting my jeep in it, and 3-4 quads.

That's how we always camp. I don't even remember the last time I slept in a tent on the ground.

I'll be back over there some time this summer, just have to figure out when we can make a weekend trip. I'm leaning towards late June, but it may not be until Fall again. You can't beat April-May or September-October for camping weather.

well depending on who all wants to go, i may be up there around the end of July. i am going somewhere during the last two weeks in july, just no idea where yet, kinda gonna depend on who all can go, and where they want to go.

if i do decide on heading up there, i will be sure and let everyone know.

as for the current trip being planned, i know the weekend of teh 26th is now out for me, i think that is gonna be my graduation party from college.

Badlands SUCKS and is WAY overrated

Seriously though, if your remotely close and havent hit the trails there your missing out. I cant wait to get back out and have some more fun riding on some quad trails with a FSC!

Let me know of all trips over, i would like to get over there a handfull of times still this year.
