I'm going to make a 10inch subwoofer box for under the back seat of my 06 crew cab.

I bought 3/4 inch particle board. A friend said I should use MDF and 1/2 should be fine.

from what I've read, they say 3/4 is what to use.

mdf - medium density fiberboard

it is kind of like a composite wood, easier to drill/cut without all the splintering, seems stiffer (less give for subs)? maybe more airtight? due to it having smaller particles in the bonding process.

i'm not sure how exact/specific of an answer you're looking for. it's just the preferred material to use when building speaker boxes.
