I have been lookin for a while at stationary air compressors and was looking to get about a 60gal to put in the shop so i can use spray gun, da sander, impacts, sandblast and such. What should i look for i know there are different cfms and single stage and 2 stage(dont think i need 2 stage) guess i need some more insight and advise from the consumers. any brands better than others? thanks in advance.

Keep an eye on CL for a used brand name one like IR or Jenny, stay away from the big box import stuff.

looking around seems sears, lowes, home depot, TSC and such are around 450-900 so probably 550 take or give and depends on quality.

we're got a sanborn here at the house. its been a good compressor. a little finicky when it gets cold, flip the swith on it a few times and it eventually takes right off.
i dont like the fact that its an oil-less compressor. less maintnance = less life in my book. and it is a bit noisier.

You need to be looking at cfm, brands not so much. You have listed some high cfm tools, bare minimum I would go with is 18 cfm @90psi. If you buy a lower cfm unit it will wear out quicker and cost you more in the long run.

+1
This is what I would do. If you do find something like a husky make sure it is one of the older made in USA ones. The new import stuff they have gone to is junk IMO.

I agree the oil-less ones are noisy as hell and they don't last worth a crap.

My dad and roomate both have Kobalts from lowes....both seem to be good compressors. The roomates was even used by a local auto shop for a WHILE with no issues.
