Motor
383
AFR 180 Heads 1.6 rockers
Cam 220 / 228 Lift .531" / .553" 114 LSA
8:7:1 COMP
TBI performer manifold
50MM TBI
80LB injectors
255 intake pump
Procharger F1A ( keeping boost down to 10LBs)

We are tuning and dyno on WED.

we are keeping boost down for now as there is no way I can feed enough fuel with the TBI. I am working on a Pro Ram system with the Accel DFI for this summer with 55lb injectors and coil packs. We just want to see just how much we can push the tbi safey.... I would love to here what you guys think.

450-475 hp revised,,, I think you'll run out of fuel before you run out
of motor...

I've got a stock 5.3L... And I'm running like 2492323489239 HP... So you should be better than that.

Id say if the TB is setup right and you get the fuel pressure dialed in right you should be around 425hp. That motor breaths very well so lets see what happens!!

there is no way a motor built that well is creating such low numbers.ballpark figure 350-400 crank hp all motor 450-550 crank hp depending on how low you keep the boost levels.the fuel setup is solid but the only thing i see choking that motor is that poor flowing stock replacement intake and small bore throttle body.a airgap with a adapter or atleast a holley projection intake with a matching 2" bore throttle body would flow much better but since your ditching the tbi all together doesnt really matter.

We've been shocked with surprising dyno numbers in the past, both low and high.

My guess is 286HP and 306 Ft/LBS

IMHO the TBI will be tapped out around 450hp, and i'm going to say thats what my guess is.

Yes this in in the truck.... see thread http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/general-discussion/performance/forced-induction/402926-f1a-procharger-build-has-begun.html

there are some pics there also a smaqll startup vid. should have more later in the day tomarrow

why did you use 180 cc heads? why not 195s or 210s? did you already have the heads?

When I built this motor there was a lot of planning...My motor is built for idle to 6200, it will spin past that but not make anymore power, I wanted TQ down low. After much researching and working with AFR we cam to the 180's. If I was spinning this past 6k on a regular basis I would have gone with the 195's but also I am boosting this so with this combo I am not going to have a flow issue... Remeber with the whipple I had on it it flows so well I could only get it to produce 4lbs with the smallest pully they make :). the F1A will give me boost down lower than lets say a P1 or the D1, and make more boost that that motor can handle

KevinL1987

My guess is 432Hp, 502ft lb's TQ

cool i figured you wanted alot of power down low if you went with those heads on a boosted 383

well guys no numbers... we started tuning and got everything below boost going great.. then my AFPR was not giving my enough of a ratio i needed underboost. so we decided to stop until I can get a proper FMU to give me enough FP underboost.. sorry its going to be a few more weeks witht he holidays. When I get some time I will post some quick video of the tuning runs we did... Sorry I am just as sad as you guys are, but not going to pop a motor :)

BUT I did get it to pass our sniffer in washington so I can legally drive it.... and that was with the 80lbs injectors

fmu isn't the way to go...your just putting a bandaid on a much larger problem....same as mine... need a larger fuel delivery system with bigger injectors...i'm running 2 90lb in my TB and max'd out at 350 to the wheels...do the math...they won't do much more than that...i am upgrading to the multiport efi with 44 lb injectors, new fuel system, and the ebl flash...should support mt 600hp

That is cool that you got it to pass our emissions test. Post up the HP numbers when you finally get everything dialed in

what are you useing for an ecu or chip....how are you going to tune it...

whitelightnin92

i think hes using a 7427 ecm

bigred2004
01-07-2010, 08:45 PM
I know the 7427 ecu will run that intake setup but ive heard OBD I doesnt handle boost very well period. Some of the sy/ty guys have managed to run a 2 bar map sensor on a GM pcm which is sweet. Im sub'd to see how this turns out

whitelightnin92
01-07-2010, 09:42 PM
if any obd1 ecm is cabable of boost then its the 7427. it doesnt get any better unless you use the EBL wich wont run his E-trans

not messing around I will be going with a Accel DFI Gen 7 and a TCI trans controller :)

not as much as a new motor would be. its not that bad if you look for deals. the main reason I am going with the Accel is I have one on my jeep and know how to tune it :).
