I have a Clarion HU, a 12" 2ohm Alpine Type R subwoofer, and a Old School RF Punch 200. It's giving it RMS maybe, but I wanna give the sub everything it can get. I can get a newer RF punch 500 watt amp for $125, or should I invest in a better amp? I need some help deciding. No budget, just want the best output on this sub.

Oh and box dimensions are 1.8cf 36hz tuned port. It sounds great but I want more.

No budget? Well then i would ditch the Type R and pick up a higher quality driver and amp combo and build a box to suit.

I meant no budget on the amp.. I like the output I'm getting of this subwoofer. I'm going to upgrade the whole system when I get a new truck.

The Alpine woofer is a great sub. Is the woofer dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm? If dual 4 and you have it at 2 ohms then you can use a Alpine 600.1 or even better a JL 500/1.

It's a 2 ohm woofer. I might buy a mtx amp off a friend. I just need an amp that can CLEANLY push this sub with large holes for thick 4 gauge wire and variable tuning. I think the JL would be nice. I could use it on future setups. I'm going to be looking for a nice set of comps. Next. I have a clarion HU. Not top of the line by any means, but the tuning is good. I'm going to upgrade that after the components. Also what wiring kit would you suggest? I've heard alot of good things about knuckconcepts. I'm nottheexpert here so any info is appreciated.

I would look into a Sundown Audio amp, push more than rated power and priced decent.

My friend had a mtx amp. I bought it. It's a 500 rms amp. It pushes this sub beyond it's limits it's 2 ohm. I'm not sure what the impedance is on my amp the moment. I have My sub wired with 1 in +, and one in -. It also has this short metal wire piece going the other positive, and connecting the other negative. I'm not sure if that's the correct way to wire this sub.

Thats wired ok, but it changes your sub(assuming its a dual 2ohm) to a 4ohm load to the amp.

Is that RF amp the mono block or stereo bridged?
If it's a mono 200 series it might already be giving that sub all it can take at 2ohm. Those older RF amps are very under rated.
I was running a RF HX2 12" dual vc at 2ohms with the 301m RF amp. Had to keep the amp turned down. That same amp runs 2 12" type x's in the wifes Jeep and makes your vision blurry.

Can someone give me a diagram of the best way to wire this sub up to my mtx amp? It's a 500 wAtt Rms at 4ohm amp.

My amp isn't strong enough to push 1 good sized 12, much less 2! It Gave my 10 a run for it's money, but it didn't hurt it. I think this MTX is a murderer!
