I am trying to figure out if its time for a new carb or maybe something different. I have replaced all the vaccum lines on the engine ,and new exhaust. The mis only is noticeable at idel but some times it will be real bad and other times not noticable at all. I have tried adjusting the carb with no luck and I am pulling 20# of vacum.:cussing:

I replaced the plugs and they were normal. The egr I have not checked it with a vacuum gauge but I have checked like the book says while running to push the diaphragm and rpm increases. It did as it should. I pulled it and let it soak in sea foam and oiled the little metal shaft and it moved freely.

does the carb look like it needs to be cleaned and rebuilt?

I have taken it of and cleaned it and when running I sprayed w-d40 around the base and shafts with no noticable rpm change. I guess I just go ahead and get a new carb cant hurt anything.
I was looking at one from here http://www.smicarburetor.com/products/sfID1/28/sfID2/9/sfID3/32/productID/18

if the throttle shafts arent leaking just get a rebuild kit. go here for all the info about quadrajets.

Thanks for the help. I have drove it and have been "studying" how it acts on the street. It will kind of stumble when I press the gas to take off and then take off like normal.

I really dont know too much about quadrajets. other then checking fuel pressure and ensuring your main jets are clean and not leaking.

There is no real way for my to know over the internet, but it is sounding like a lean condition. If your idle mixture is too lean, when the carburetor transfers from the idle circuit to the main system, there will not be enough fuel available to cover up the transition.

If the idle mixture screws are having no effect on the running of the engine, then there is something blocking them. Check your fuel bowls for water, (I forget where the idle jets get their fuel from on the Q-jet) but if it is down low, they can be sucking water and making it run lean.
