With my project, someone gave me a thought of installing a oem rear fuel tank, and removing my side tank. It is an 89 c1500 std cab short bed, and I want to run true duals and 4/6 drop the truck. The motor is 355 built carbed going in it. Has anyone done the rear oem tank swap and maybe with some pictures for reference. My first thought was a 20gal fuel cell in the bed, but this was an interesting idea.

I know of 1 person if not more, running the 2 door OBS suv tanks in the back of a obs truck.
I'd go with the stock tank setup like you mentioned; the senders on the RCI fuel cells are junk, and furthermore there's no efficient way to pump fuel to the motor unless you run an expensive ass external Fuel Pump.
Grab a regulator for your carb (tbi tends to run in 10-12ish psi whereas carbs like 6-8), and you'll be set.

check out the street section...a few guys are using the early 90s s10/blazer tank , it's about 20 gallons. i think the sending unit is a little bit shorter then the fullsize so you'll need to get one for it, or shorten yours, but search in the street section theres lots of info on it there

why would you need to change the tank setup to run true duals?

I want the pipes to be on both sides because later I will run the tips through the lower portion in front of the back tires. I am a even person, everything needs to be put one with an even flow.
