Can the light in the A/C button be replaced on my '98? I have the two small buttons, one for recirulating and the other to turn on the A/C.

Yes they can, I swapped mine out with an amber led
Just pop off the dash bezel , press in both tabs on each side of the HVAC control box and you will see the bulbs are in A twist lock holder I think the number is 194.

Yes, they can be replaced, but no, they're not 194 bulbs as BrettD said. They're T1.5 bulbs.

I tried to find a couple of these T 1.5 bulbs at RadioShack and they didn't have them. I'm having a hard time finding what I believe to be the correct bulbs online. Can someone post a link or something to the exact bulb where it can be purchased online?

TIA!

Did you try a parts store?

I checked AutoZone, but didn't see them. I'll check another place by my house for them.

Did you ask if they had them? I would figure an auto parts store would carry them. I've never replaced them with normal bulbs. I've only pulled them out to replace with LEDs. If you wanted LEDs, I could tell you where to go. :dunno:

I wouldn't mind going with amber LED's as long as they don't stand out more than the rest of my interior lights. Do your LED's blend with the rest of the interior lights? Or did you replace all your lights with LED's?

Amber LEDs in the A/C and Recirc buttons wouldn't make them look any different than they normally should. I had replaced them with LEDs on my former '99 Yukon and saw no difference. On my current '98 Suburban, I replaced everything BUT the A/C and Recirc buttons with LEDs. Blue LEDs in the gauges and HVAC and white LEDs for courtesy lighting.

Here's where you can get the LEDs:

You'd just want the "T1.5 series LED Twist Lock Lamp"

Man, your dash and HVAC looks slick as hell! I was going to order the red LED for my AC light and all the LED's to do my dash and HVAC, but realized that my radio buttons (stock radio) will still be white and I don't think that will look right. I wish I would have seen yours because I just replaced the bulbs in my radio because half of them were out. I would have done blue if I had known. I was thinking of replacing the radio lights again (with blue), but the polarity thing pisses me off. I don't want to have to solder on the LED's for the radio just to find out that I have to take it apart again to turn some of the around. That would look sick though!

Thanks.

I was originally going to just do the blue LEDs in the gauges and then white LEDs in the HVAC and stereo since half the lights in my stock stereo were out. Then I got the Alpine head unit with its blue lighting, so I went ahead and did the blue in the HVAC as well. Now I need to get blue LEDs for the 2 overhead control panels for the rear air.
