are they chrome or polished alum.?
Might try a tooth brush to get into the tight areas.
If they are chrome might need to use like laquer thinner or something harsh, then hit em with mothers, if they are polished alum. maybe just need to polish them in the tight areas.

if your talking about what looks to be a haze try some never dull polish it works great. it buffs and applies a polish that you let sit then you wipe off

If they have water spots and other junk on them, I've had success with some fine steel wool lubricated with a mothers wax. I might sound weird but it works. Just don't rub too hard.
