I posted a best time of a 12.96 @ 105 mph today at National Trails Raceway. I went thinking it would run a 13.4x given the numbers from last fri at the 1/8, but was surprised when it went 13.20 @ 102 mph right off the trailer. I knew it was going to pick up on the big end and it had more in it, i just put a lil more timing in it and was able to hit the 12.96. I was running a 26x10x15 M/T Sportsman Pro tire today, but the next time i go, i'll have the new M/T ET Streets on. They are a 275/60/15 and are 28" tall where the others are only 26", not sure how that will effect my numbers but we'll see next time i go. Pic of the slip once i get everything put away, she got some video of the slower runs i made, but wasent in the stands quick enough to get the best one of the day.

That is awesome. You are making it hard for me to have a chance of being as fast or faster then you. I think I can make 12s if I ever make it to the track and don't kill the trans.

I Don't think I posted anything but I went 3 weeks ago and it woudn't shift into third right. Drove it home and didn't have 1st or R at the shop. Sent it to the tranny guy and he fixed it up for me. Hopefully going middle of aug and it might be cooler by then. My goal is 12.8(guess we are going to need to order 125hp jets!)

I am going to make it to the track mid august. Them maybe the end of august we can meet up at Norwalk.

I tell you this week would be a good time to go. All the prep from the top fuel for night under fire has the tack so sticky you almost couldn't walk on it! Also after walking on a well prepped track I understand skinnies are as much or more about rolling resistance then they are weight! A fat wide tire would be VERY hard to roll on such a sticky track.

The skinnies have to help, i got new meats for the rear and matching wheels, M/T ET Street Radials in a 275-60-15. Not sure how they will effect my tims since they are taller than the old ones though. The UPS guy dident make it to my house in time before i left Fri so these dident get put on till Sat.

yes i am still kicking myself in the ass.

do you ice the 144 down between runs. roots types build a ton of heat.

wonder if my old man will give mine back? would look good on the ss i have now, just find an intake for a bbc.

OK I gotcha, that would be nice to trailer the truck to teh drags. I usually bring a jack and a johnson bar to swap on slicks /drag radials. I am always worried that I am going to break, but thus far I have been lucky.

I didnt realize that you were blown now, thought you ran your 12's NA. How many mph did you gain, what was your ET drop from the blower? WHat rpm are you trapping at? What torque converter are you running?

I gained 7mph, went from a 13.75 to a 12.96, through the traps at about 5500rpm, and i run a TCI 10" 3000 rpm stall. Its seems to be more like 2700 rpm though. Also, this was at 5 pounds of boost.

are you considering throwing on the 20's with a drag radial and seeing what type of times you can get with that setup?

custm2500

I dobt it after buying wheels and tires. No reason to slow it down.

Na, they are way too heavy. My goal in the very begining was to run a 13.99 with the 20's on street tires, it may do it now but they dont get very good traction.

I def dont want to get slower lol. I pulled the choke plate out of my carb and as i was working on it i noticed that the line for the PCV going into the S/C was not letting the secondairys open more than half throttle. I had the rubber hose slid on too far and the linkage was bottoming out, so i never had them open all the way. I'm really curious as to the effect the 28" tall tires will have VS. the 26" ones, i still have the 26's in case they dont perform like i think they should.

any new motor pics with the blower setup? I love the big small look with the new rear tires on! I would love to be in the 12s! Nice runs! Ever thought about adding a lil race gas and upping the timming/boost some? Also do you have a 100MPH sticker in the window yet :naughty: i cant wait to get mine! Then people know you have one quick truck!

Congrats man. Nice looking truck. You might lose a little mph with the taller meats, but you may also 60' a little better with them too.

I used to work at that drag strip about 18 years ago...first time I smelled race gas was at that place...coming out of a 68 Nova with a ZL1 BBC.

nothing but a helmet in NJ and MD (not sure about wv). 11.99 is when you need a cage

not sure if i have asked befor but what size stall are you runnin? do you have a 700r4?

fast 95
08-26-2010, 04:18 PM
Yep, 700R4, and a TCI 10" converter 3000 stall. Seems more like 2500rpm. On a different note, i put a new carb on it today and holley $hit. Holley knew what they were doing when the made the S/C specific carbs. The old one ran good, but this thing is a totaly different animal now, i hope to hit the track tomorow night. Just got the drive shaft loop installed, gotts swap tires back out and load it up and i will be ready to go. Also got the AEM wide band installed, getting ready to take it for a cruse and see where my A/F is at throught the rpm range.

Very nice! my stall also seems to stall lower then shoud be. I have a yank 2800 and its more like a 22-2500rpm. What part number AFRs are you running on that thing? strait or angle plug? im about to pull the triger on some for myself!
what drive shaft safty loop did you end up goin with....got any pics? Lookin forward to seeing the new numbers! Are you having any problems with your front runner wheels and adapters at all at the track?

Lol, my heads are the 1034's, straight plug. Best money i ever spent on this motor, as for the loop, its the Jegs universal, i dident get any pics was too excited to get it back on the ground and test the carb out again. As for the wheels, they perform like a champ, i'm hitting the track tomorow and i know its going to be faster. Its so quick from the 1-2 shifts its hard to keep it off the rev limiter.

No secret, 355 aluminum headed, supercharged run of the mill small block. Good tires and a set of caltracs should help me come out of the hole a little harder, as should the new trans. The new 2.48 first gear should be better than the 3.06 it had, was always overpowering the tires and not letting me ge a good launch.

I'm interested to see what the 2.48:1 1st gear is going to do traction-wise. It really should help you get more agressive on launches. The closer ratio's of the 80e should also help as well.
Guys in the 3rd Gen F-bodies get gains of 3-4 tenths just from going from 700r4s with the 3.06:1 1st gear to the 2.52:1 of the thm-350 auto.

I can hardly wait til you get some new passes on teh truck. keep us updated.
