Hey guys I have decided to get some new tools. And i was thinking about getting some of the Evolv socket sets and wrenches because of there price (Because I'm working part time during school) and I wanted to know if anyone around here has had and experience with them so let me know. Thanks

buy a few craftsman at a time or look on craigslist under tools. I always see great deals on used name brands there. Sometimes people selling whole sets

I'm pretty sure the Evolve tools are Craftsman's line of cheap Chinese crap tools. I doubt they have any kind of warranty like the lifetime warranty of Craftsman.

Go with Craftsman. I got the 260 piece set and i couldn't be happier.

Yes go with regular Craftsman. Dont give sears any opportunity to make money with chinese tools. They have already moved some of the Craftsman line to Chinese production.

i got a pair of those evolv needle nose pliers, and they broke the first time i touched them, and all i was doing was trying to bend back an arm on a cotter pen!! those things are crap.

Any tools that are brightly painted, like lime green, should be avoided.
Craigslist is definetly a good place a start, or whenever sears has Craftsman on sale.
If you have a Northern Tool around i'd go there and buy up some tools. I've broken good Craftsman tools but to be honest what few Northern brand tools I have, have never broken. Much cheaper than Craftsman too.

Evolv is good to buy to replace the sockets you lose. Craftsman tools have a lifetime warranty but they don't warranty it if you lose it.

I love my lime green Snap On pick set. Makes it a whole hell of a lot easier to find when you drop one into the depths of a Duramax engine bay
Back on topic; the only time I have EVER seen an actual socket itself break from normal use, it was one of those Evolv sockets. My friend put about 20 lbs of force on it with a ratchet and it split down the side in 3 places, absolute crap.
Listen to everyone above and go Craftsman or better. All my sockets at work are Craftsman save for two Snap On deep wobble impacts.

Give it time...
Craigslist is great for tool deals, I see them all the time (just wish I had a bit more money to play with).

I have a set of 1/2' evolve sockets. They were a bit cheaper (I needed a cheaper set just to get by) and I asked about the warranty. They have a lifetime warranty but you have to bring back the whole set. I figured it's probably better than China.. I mean Harbor Freight. 2 months on them using them all week at work and they're still holding up fine.
But when it comes down to it. I'd buy the regular craftsman first. I have a lot of craftsman tools. A lot of them are pretty good. the screw drivers, punches, picks, and pliers don't hold well to a lot of abuse and using them improperly... But I suppose that's my fault.

Nothing wrong with the Evolv line at all. By the way they ate craftsman. They've held up pretty good granted I only have a couple small sets.

ill throw it in there but the craftsman universals (black tools) they are crap i bring them to the salvage yard with me and they were a gift. i love my craftsman tools one thing i did find was hit up pawn shops i would get a bundle of wrenches for dirt cheap and take the messed up ones back to sears for a new one
