I want to move the sensor to the intake elbow after the Whipple SC. It will go right below the aux injectors. Autozone has a thread in MAT and also an Edelbrock IAT with a rubber gromet. I am worried that the rubber gromet one will pop out so I was leaning towards the thread in type but then afraid it might pick up the heat for the metal where it is installed plus they call it a MAT not a IAT. MSD used to make one part number 2330 but Summit no longer carries it.

So are a MAT and an IAT the same? SHould I go threaded or rubber gromet? Thanks

There's very little pressure (we're only talking a few Psi so the rubber grommet will be fine (as in stock application). My whipple setup has a clamp to hold the OEM IAT sensor in place in the elbow (mine's a 98 though).
Personally though...I'd go with the screw in unit. It'll be internally insulated from the brass body so heat transfer won't be an issue.
Another option which I've used is to cut a thread on the body of the OEM sensor and just screw it straight in.
