Does anyone know if a '95 HVAC control unit can we swapped out for a '96-'98 if I splice the wiring harness? I know the wiring for a '95 is different, ribbon I think. The '95's are harder to find and more expensive. Thanks

The 96-98 can definitely be used in a 95 but it requires an adapter harness. I suppose if you robbed the connector out of a parts truck you could splice it all together. I know the adapter harnesses exist because I've seen them, I just haven't seen them for sale individually - separate from a controller.

And yeah, the 96-98 are easier to find, but they're also commonly bad - usually from the antenna lead dropping onto the exposed circuit board when someone pulls out the radio. Zap!

Thanks Richard. Any idea where I can buy the adapter harness? My soldering skills are not the best. I have a 97 control so if not I may spend a day in the local pull and pay.

Never seen it for sale separately, and in fact am a little puzzled about where they came from in the first place. I've had two of them, both pulled out of 95 model parts trucks I bought. Dunno if it's something the factory did, or perhaps an aftermarket controller came with. Sorry!
